Trying to work out the best teams is near madness … bookies list is fine on who top 2 might be... then it is a scrabble a case can be made for most of the rest.

I have to say this season I’ve absolutely no idea, it really could go either way, if we get a good start who knows, likewise a bad start and we’ll be right in it , finger in air job.

Our sheep-worrying cousins from over the Severn have us down to finish in the bottom 6.

Whether that's their genuine footballing opinion, or whether that's simply what they WANT is hard to tell - but it's close to the bookies expectations.....

Don't worry R&W, I can think of at least 3 clubs we at Cardiff would rather see go down than you.

    Derby, Swansea and.........'erm........'erm..........

    OK, two then..........<laugh> :emoticon-0105-wink:

I think most City fans don't know what to expect. Last year we had a good start, and faded so fast it was embarrassing. But with NP having a pre-season and our supposedly "poor players" leaving, we have to expect better than finishing in the bottom 6!

Of the 65 I'd say Bentley and Kalas are the only 2 of Championship quality.
I worry that Pearson has added Pros on the way down looking for a last payday, maybe a bit similar to himself.
    4th bottom will be success.

Getting the excuses in early for your man I see. His decision to bring these players in, and like our previous managers, he will be judged on their success, or otherwise! 4th bottom would be a downward step from last season, so not a success in my eyes. Given that SL fired a manager that couldn't get a top 6 finish, I doubt he will consider 4th bottom as a success either...

    Are you for real ?

He knows the position he's inherited here - a sh8t squad and no finance due to the pandemic.
He's heading for a fall and I think he couldn't care less.
    Along with his Leicester cohorts.

More like trying to gloss over and ignore the LJ glory days!! Or shall I say pulling the wool over our eyes early, in case of the disappointment.
The changes were aimed to improve...we shall see where that takes us........,mid table or worse would be failure in my eyes and using the pandemic as an excuse is laughable.....RP specialises in BS :emoticon-0105-wink: always looking to cover his argument both ways, do well gives him ammo against LJ's past ability, do bad it's because of what LJ left behind....... I know how he ticks, sooooo predictable !! :emoticon-0103-cool:

I feel really good about our team, when the manager gets a settled core we will shine. At the moment we are in the throes of everyone trying to prove a point. The next few games could all be draws but our luck has been down, it needs to change. After 10 games I expect us to be in top 4 with 20 points.

Bristol City have long been an under performing team which is very frustrating for their long suffering supporters and when you throw in the promises that came from various areas of management it further highlights the omissions and errors. Nigel Pearson was hired to supposedly change that dyed in the wool thinking and build a squad capable of taking us to a better place but so far those efforts have fallen on difficult times and we have not seen an uptick in our fortunes.

Other than expecting Nigel Pearson to have us in the Champions League in the next 5 years I am not quite sure what was a reasonable target during the first full year of his tenure other than a respectable position in the table. The pandemic has had a real biting affect on the situation at every club throughout the leagues and Steve Lansdown has set the bar on spending which NP obviously took on board prior to his signing on the bottom line. Clearly NP needs time to reset the clock on our fortunes and only time will be his judge and jury but I hope the questioning about his methods don't begin until he has had at least 3-4 months. We all hope he will succeed and our support is crucial because the buzz from the crowd is what can make a serious difference. I have watched a few games over the last 4-5 days and it was very noticeable that the crowd noise at Ashton Gate was somewhat lower than most others.

Tell me I'm wrong but I can't help but notice that NP has a very glib, almost indifferent, attitude during news interviews and that concerns me a little as the last time I saw that was with Steve Coppell in his first interview at Bristol City and we all know where that ended. When SC was being interviewed my wife said she felt that he was insincere and didn't look comfortable and probably wouldn't last long - and she was correct. Just a concerned opinion about the motivation.

I fully support the hiring of NP and I want him to succeed to end years of apathy and dismal football.

    game 6...
City v PNE a win would be nice, although moving up the table will be a steady affair! the Stoke v Hudds game could stop us getting top 6 either to win gives us a chance... however Bournemouth, Coventry, Blackburn and Cardiff would all need to lose!
PNE has been a bit of a bogey but hopefully this time we will be the bogey man!
