Bookies make a lot of money for good reason! On high scoring games the probabilities are many tens of times the odds they offer.
For those that were able to watch, is it a coincidence that Tom Carroll starts and we keep a clean sheet? Now that’s out of the way, let’s push on!
I didn’t see Hladky starting. What do we make of that? Easy to think a clean sheet must indicate he’s ‘the man’ but Walton must be better option?
According to Cook’s post match interview Walton was injured yesterday. Is Hladky now the man in possession?
It’s not going to be Holy after his absolute howler against West Ham so Hladky it is. Maybe the clean sheet will give him a bit of confidence.
Great win, this is exactly what we've been waiting for, it sounded like tactically Cook got it right today where he's got it soo wrong the previous few games, it seems we went back to basics in our defending with the full backs not pushing as high and the wide midfielders tracking back to support the fullbacks. This has been our weakness all season, yes it might sacrifice some attacking threat but we've got enough attacking talent to be a bit more solid at the back. Also sounds like Donacien had a great game, I've never seen him have a good game and therefore never rated him and thought he should be nowhere near the first team if KVY is fit but fair play to him and in my mind he has the shirt in that position now.
By all accounts he made a huge contribution with excellent defending and, crucially, he nullified the left winger who is Lincoln’s biggest danger man, which meant coulson was still free to go forward and indeed whipped in an excellent ball for Bonne who’s finish was superb. We really could do with signing him on a perm deal… it didn’t sound like a great game, we were on the racks at times by the sounds of thing but hey, most people (me included) felt we’d lose and we we did a proper ‘away’ job where we dropped the champagne footy and dug out a win at a tough place. That’s what top sides do…right? whether this is lift off remains to be seen but provided the players believe in cook, his system and their role and don’t mind that there’s hardly any coaches with any pedigree we have to hope it’ll be upwards from here.
I remember Donacien made a couple of mistakes when he first came to Town and that turned a lot of the fans against him. He had a fantastic game against Rotherham under Hurst but Lambert came in and absolutely savaged him. They had history. He was not quick for a full back and not the best on the ball but very, very solid defensively.
There must be something about him as it seems clubs at this level have been keen to take him on loan and they have used them and we paid a decent fee for him. Never been the best RB going forwards but I'll be honest from the little I've seen he's looked powder puff in defence as well, there seemed to be a lack of aggression to his game anyway hopefully he can build on this good performance as I don't think KVY has found form yet.
