I popped over to the Cardiff board earlier and our sheep-worrying cousins from the valleys really do think we're totally rubbish.
    Championship 21/22 | Page 7 | Not606

I have extracted a post from our old friend Sparkey:
"Although they beat us, Bristol City are dreadful. They're banking on the "Pearson effect" to transform a poor squad. The guys across there see that as the way forward but they'll struggle this season with what they've got at the moment."

Now, don't get me wrong - I'm not going to lose any sleep over a bitter Cardiff fan's opinion of us, but is there any truth do you think? Are we REALLY this terrible and riding our luck? or is it just the bitter ramblings of a jealous local rival, hurting because his team got beaten in the local derby?

To be honest, although we've not set the league alight - and our performance in the Luton game was certainly poor - I don't think we're THAT bad. Mid-table methinks - but clearly OS thinks differently and is suggesting that Forest and Derby's woes will come to our aid at the end of the season.

Bitter ramblings from a sour Cardiff fan, or a genuine 3rd party view of us from a neutral???

Playing 4 CHs made sense against the way Cardiff play and was successful.
Dreadful is about right in our last 2 home games.

I wouldn't exactly say "an unbiased 3rd party", but certainly a genuine opinion.

From what I've seen so far, there are half a dozen clubs destined to contest the bottom 6 - and you're one of them.

After our dreadful performance at Coventry ths week, you could lump us in there too. The point must be who can improve from where they are right now?

Thursday night on 909 listened to a chat EARNSHAW and … about NF etc and championship. One point made was takes 1- 12 games to settle down with some squads [ recent manager like this will be first full season not so NF manager though ..lol ] another point was 3 or 4 teams will feature [ most of season ] in top 6 or so whilst 3 or 4 on the early pace will be scraping the bottom …… come the end. AND VICE VERSA....
city has always had a dismal record against bottom teams [ last few / 7 or8 ? seasons ] drew v Blackpool / lost v Swansea but not played a top club yet QPR AND FULHAM on the horizon and game 10 Millwall at this point 15 points or better should be on the board !!!!

Unless we have a change of something then I believe we may struggle this season but I was hoping for some relief from the usual.

I know Sparkey. Sometimes I get so depressed I need to take a look at the league table to calm my nerves. ;)

Personally wouldn’t take any notice since they judge their opinion based on one game, Luton fans the other day said we were **** and I would agree in a way as they were miles better than us but we were lucky they didn’t take their chances.

we’ll be comfortable in mid table nothing exciting but it is what it is and we won’t be any near the bottom this season having witnessed more than one game, we’ll be fine.

I thought Cardiff were **** when we played them. I’m struggling to remember anyone worse than them.

We got 3 points today against a side who didn’t take their chances.
I agree - my (revised) estimate is we will end up around mid table - about 10th probably.

We aren’t brilliant, but I don’t think we’re as bad as Sparkey thinks.

Always good to get another fans view, to which I would counter, that Cardiff are not very good either to be honest. I don’t think there is much, if anything between our 2 teams, and I think we will both be in the middle of the pack come next May

Tend to agree. It'll take huge changes at both clubs to compete for any prizes this season.

Maybe McCarthy and/or Pearson will hit on a formula that'll work with what they've both got available - mid table looks favourite.

Mid table for us will be considered success, surely you guys won’t be happy, shouldn’t you be expecting playoffs as a minimum?

Before our game at Coventry in midweek and yesterday, albeit against a very good Bournemouth side, we would have thought top 6 was a reasonable target.

Now we're not so sure to say the least. A few injuries/covid issues like Ralls and Giles etc has shown us how vulnerable we are. We have depth but dubious quality. The reliance on Kieffer Moore up front to get the goals isn't paying off (yet). It says something that our top scorer is Flinty.

Mick is throwing youngsters who've come through our academy at it with varying results. Perhaps he's waiting for Tomlin to get fit?.....<laugh><laugh>
