Bad day at the office, although we didn't do too much wrong except finish some great chances. We are good enough to challenge for the playoff places, just need to overcome the defensive lapses. Need a strong defensive midfielder and it's not Stefan.
Well, for the first game this season that I’ve seen live I thought we really should have won with ease. First goal was a poor one to concede, the second also but the result of pushing for the win. But as I’m sure the stats will show we have loads of chances. Chair, playing slightly deeper, was good and Willock excellent. There was some lovely movement and passing in and around their box. I thought the game was made for Charlie when he came on, but one shot was all we saw, he was miles from the action most of the time. As always Uncs upped the tempo and enthusiasm, though Moses had played ok (at fault for first goal?). If the purpose of bringing Ball on was to guard against a breakaway goal it failed spectacularly. ****ing irritating, but not the end of the world.
Good signs on here at least, as no one is over reacting on the back of two games where the opposition's keepers have had worldies and we're still just outside the play offs. Onward.
Feel a bit sick now to be honest. Everton on Tuesday Dykes played well but his was virtually a tap in, can't be missing those. Would have taken a very good finish for Austin to score that chance, especially after only being on the pitch seconds. Very frustrating day, I hope confidence stays high as our team are a joy to watch at times.
Just home and gutted - total smash and grab but lots of positives and we’ll end up higher in the table than them.
We are badly missing Field, at least on his form last season. I doubt Warburton would set us up like today too often with him available. Sorry Dom but it felt almost like we arent covering the acres of space in front of the back 3 with Ball playing, so let's go for it with an extra striker and Stefan do what you can.
I thought the linesman (not the lineslady) had a mare and made a number of poor calls. I thought the little Hair Bear Bunch city player who was patently unable to remain on his feet for any challenge whatsoever, should have been given a card for simulation when he dived in our box. Our strikers were not good enough today to beat their very good keeper, that’s the sum of it. Onwards and upwards. We leave the game frustrated but entertained. Still so much better than leaving the ground feeling desolate after an abject performance, of which we’ve had so many over the past 10 years.
Hands up I've only seen the 2 minutes highlights on Sky as it was a glorious day here, far too nice to be inside following the football and Autumn sets in very quickly here so the garden took priority. However the lads in our WhatsApp group kept me up to date on events..... The overall verdict was that well play far worse than that and win comfortably, it's galling that 2 games in succession we've come up against a keeper in inspired form but maybe Friday against Baggies we'll get a bit more rub of the green........ I see that we had 26 attempts on goal and 11 on target, the keeper made 10 saves, it's just one of those days. I'd much rather we played this way than grinding out a 1-0 win although the odd ugly 1-0 isn't a bad thing occasionally, Friday maybe? At least we're only 8 games in and another 38 to go, we don't want to peak too soon, it's only after the final game of the season that places matter........ At least their manager had the grace to acknowledge that we are a good side, mind it's easy to say such things after a smash and grab....... On another day that could easily have ended up as a 5 or 6-1 tonking for Bristol........ one day my friends a team will be on the receiving end of such a result..... Keep then faith......
