Simon Lappin, on Radio Norfolk, has just stated that both goals were poorly conceded. This looks like another relegation season.
He’s looked very good, but this sort of mistake underlines that you need players to bed in, a regular team.
I’d say the first one was less badly defended, as it were, because the cross was excellent. Though we left buckets of space in that left back position to pick out the cross and Kabak was badly outmuscled. The second was just all sorts of bad, but not from the defence so much as the poor pass letting us down and getting punished for it. We are now getting hassled and harried of course and letting them sting us on the break, could easily have had a third if Sarr was two steps forward.
This is really depressing. Our defending has let us down. This is the best chance for points and it's hard to see where any are going to come from now. This looks like being a very long season if we can't compete with Watford at home. Too many changes perhaps, especially Kabak coming in with so little time in training. Normann did ok except for that mistake and got the assist, but we lacked cohesion. I dread Liverpool in the cup and then Everton away. Hard to see where the points are going to come from.
This is so depressing. Last year we were way ahead of Watford and Brentford. Why are we suddenly so far behind them?
Played 5 lost 5 goals scored 2 conceded 14 . Even if we exclude the winless run from our last Premier league season this is not good enough to stay up unless something drastically changes .
Kabak should not have played. Usually Farke errs on the side of caution when introducing new players. Why did he take the risk this time when Omo did so well against Arsenal?
We’ve also tried a new style - less possession, more counterattacking. And frankly Watford were better at it, the change in style played right into their hands. Shouldn’t be experimenting like this.
We need someone on midfield to carry the ball forward, too many passes from deep to a forward player with their back to goal getting intercepted and then braking on us. Genuinely believe this squad is good enough to stay up but they need to click very quickly. Hanley is a right sided CB why is he playing on the left? I thought Kabak played left side
My comment wasn't an attack on Kabak as an individual. It takes time for players to get used to each other. In attack this just means attacks break down disappointingly, but in defence it means you concede. So why does Tzolis not get a start because he needs time to adjust, while Kabak and Williams do start? Is it because they played for (ooh, be still my beating heart!) Liverpool and Manchester United and we should be grateful to have them playing for us?
DF seems to be able to organise a team to compete very successfully in Championship. When it comes to the PL, he seems to lack either the quality of players or a plan to counter the intensity of this league. It seems to be clear that our defending let us down again and there doesn’t appear to be a solution to sorting out this problem.
