Another weekend in the doldrums after that. My worst fears come to pass as Raphinha injured and Ayling injured. So we now have Koch, Llorente, Ayling, Struijk out injured thats just from defence. Raphinha, Forshaw both out I make that 6 from our 18 strong first team

What made it worse is that Bamford had 4 chances, Rodrigo had 3, Firpo had 1, Klich had 4 and just about all of them in the first half. We could have been 0-9 up at half time and then we allowed them back in and saved Bruce’s job

Summerville was given some minutes but only passed to as a last resort, which cannot have helped the kids nerves.

Bielsa now has a problem Tuesday and he has little option but to blood Cresswell, give Summerville a better go and has to use some of the 23s. Wouldn't it have been smart to blood them against Tranmere now.

I know he does a job for the team but I’m getting to the end of my patience with Bamford squandering opportunities. Did fantastic last season even though he still missed a few easier chances but his contribution yesterday wasn’t good enough

Llorente did say his injury isn’t as bad as first feared and he won’t be out long, I suppose it’s define long? Ayling was an ankle problem, a few said he wasn’t injured just tired, it was definitely an ankle issue.

Bielsa is going to have to use some U23s and if I were a coach facing Leeds and knowing how Bielsa insists on the extra defender when playing two up front that’s exactly what I’d do.

Dallas does okay at LB but boy was he poor in the RB slot.

They said Raphinha nearly never made the starting line up due to a knee problem, I’d assumed at the time he was subbed as a precaution but Bielsa said he had a hip problem too.

Seems Harrison wont be back for Tuesday and maybe next league game too, so thats 7 of the 18 first teamers not available Tuesday. Last nights bench was filled with U23s but he chose Shackelton to replace Ayling and juggle rather than bring Cresswell on for a few minutes. Of those 23s on last nights bench were Nohan Kenneh a DM or CB, Liam McCarron LB AM LW, plus Cresswell and Summerville so these 4 may get to play Fulham? But you will also have noticed no Gelhardt or Greenwood last night?

2pm Sunday also sees the U23s play Liverpool away, so Im suspecting we could see us now having to only play any player who may be involved Tuesday, only having 45mins. Yes we have a big squad of kids to chose from but this season we have not played our best 23 team once due to having players available for the first team bench. This may well be effecting our overall league position this season. Last season we walked Prem2 Div2 but this is a whole new kettle of fish in Prem2 Div1

Are we able to risk our last CB on Tuesday? i would say not so Im expecting a lot of changes.

    Meslier

    Hjelde CB
    Cresswell CB

    Firpo LB
    Shackelton RB

    Roberts
    Rodrigo
    Klich
    Summerville
    James
    Gelhardt

    Bench full of 23s?

At the end of last season it would have been the ideal opportunity to give a few debuts to the U23s even if it was one game each spread out over those last 4-5 games.

I think Bielsa will play our second Keeper, he usually plays Phillips no matter what but Gelhardt and Forshaw never made the bench yesterday which was strange. I’d start with the ex Fulham lad at RB and Summerville in front of him, keep James on the left then at least the two young lads know each other’s game from the U23s Shackleton and Dallas I’d probably keep back ready for the next league game.

One thing in our favour, Fulham want promotion, I’d be amazed if they don’t field a weakened team

Hopefully it will be weaker than the one we are able to put out then!

Think the squad should mainly be the u23's and what will be will be, too many seem to be carrying knocks and we can't risk any more injuries, staying up has to be priority. I'd only start Roberts, Rodrigo, Klich, Shackleton Firpo and James from what you'd call our first 16.
    Possibly start
    Klaesson
Drahma . Cresswell . Hjelde. Firpo
    ........................Shackleton
    .Summerville......Rodrigo....Klich...... James

    .....Roberts

Play Rod to get more game time in that role , Klich needs another hour, James need game time and Firpo seems to be the only LB at the club , Roberts is suppose to be a striker, he's no good anywhere else so give him a shot at it. The Phillips role is the dilemma, again the only player suited to that role we have, sicknote was supposed to be the cover for him, that seems to have gone well.
Hopefully Fulham will play a weakened side too

We tamed Mitrovic for 2 seasons but hes scoring for fun this season so far. I expect him to bully whatever defence we send out. Would be good to have Drameh back in his old manor and Ristac is correct that having Drameh and Summerville on the right should show profit as they play off each other for the 23s

It just seems all so predictable though because this was always going to happen if we had an injury crisis and our reserves left untested. I would bet that this would never have happened under any other manager, but we know and accept Bielsa’s ways. But this is now biting us badly and didnt need to happen like this

Sensible team selection Gessa but on the Phillips role we have Jack Jenkins who has a few minutes under his belt for the first team. Having a great season so far but for the 23s of course not seasoned pros. Nohan Kenneh will take no prisoners and is a unit, I have a lot of time for him.
We have one fit winger in James, do we risk him. Bielsa said Summerville is the first team 4th winger, but can we afford to have James out too for the next league match. We only have Cooper and Firpo fit from all our defenders, dare we risk them

Forgot about Jenkins Doc, didn't make the bench either last night, Bate was also a consideration.
I really don't know who else to put at LB, as I've said previously, makes the Davis, Huggins moves seem ridiculous. Just think James needs a bit time on the pitch for us. Him and Firpo need to get an understanding if they're to play together

I think it’s unfair to judge Bielsa’s small squad. Any team in the league with 4 CB’s out is going to struggle and our 2 first choice wingers. Everyone was saying we didn’t need a winger in the summer so it’s a good job we’ve got one now and no one was calling for a CB. It’s just unlucky. If we had more wingers and CB’s we’d see even less of the 23s. Times like these is where the 23s really need to seize there opportunity and become first team players.

I think whoever is selected from the 23s on Tuesday must realise this is a tipping point for their career. They will have all see players like Bogusz, Kun, Huggins, Casey, McCalmont, Gotts, Edmondson, Stevens and more play for the forst team and then vanish out of the door on loan. Javko should have a team meeting with the 23 squad today and mention that anyone who gets the chance to pull on the shirt on Tuesday should grab the opportunity with both hands, and show everyone just how special they are. These chances dont keep coming, grab it and good luck

Too much worrying about what might happen imo.

    Go to Fulham strong.

    ...............Meslier
    .......Phillips...Cooper
    Dramah...................Firpo
    ............Shackleton
    ........Klich......Rodrigo
    Summerville.........James
    ..............Roberts

We have too many players out of form. Play them in to form. Also winning is a habit, we need to start winning games again.

You are 100% correct but thats another Bielsa foible that the club will love because it means lower wage bill, but its also a sensible position to have because he hardly changes his team and therefore doesnt want unhappy players.

However we all said that this season we would be better because we will have a fully fit Forshaw, a fully Llorente and a fully fit Koch so are bound to be a better team. How wrong were we and on top of that we are down key players on the wings. Dallas with personal problems that seem to have affected him. We are very unlucky
