If we play McCarthy up front with Salisu and Stephens behind him, with Tino and Perraud on the wings, and with A. Armstrong, Adams, Djenepo and so on in defence, then maybe, just maybe this will confuse City into shooting the wrong way. Maybe we'll see De Bruyne smash an own goal in from 30 yards, or a goal-mouth scramble in which both teams are trying to put the ball in the back of the net.
What about wearing the same strip as City? Or better still, all eleven Saints players, plus substitutes, wear referees kit. We could stop the game at any time, book several City players, never be offside and carry our own '10 yard' spray for positioning walls. We'd probably still lose, but we wouldn't be last on Match of The Day
Or, our lot could just not wear any strip at all, and just cover themselves head to toe with the '10 yard' spray, thus prohibiting any City player to come within ten yards of them. We'd also look like a bunch of fit snowmen, which, if I'm being honest, is kind of a fantasy of mine.
Poor guy, I actually feel genuine pity for him having to try and motivate his team against what must seem like insurmountable odds on Saturday.
I read elsewhere that Pep was having a pop (see what I did there?) at the City fans for not turning up in vast numbers when they played Leipzig in the Champions' League. This is probably his way of trying to persuade their fans that Saints pose a real threat (and, obviously, he's right), so City will need all the vocal help they can get, otherwise we will run rampant, and a new chant will be born: "City got battered, four nil at home, four nil at home". Well, a man can dream, can't he?
Yeah only kidding. Tough game; this is really a management game IMO; Ralph has to pick the right starting 11; use subs at the right time & have a game option that includes using a possible plan b later on if things are going well or not …. ****e, maybe a thesis for all future games!? COYS
I look forward to these games because theres nothing at all to lose. I can be all excited for as long as it takes us to go 3 down at which point I skip forwards. If that doesn't happen I'll be stoked, if it does I will move on. I look on it as a chance to see how the team and the manager stack up against 'Scared Guardiola and the Tired Boys'.
Please please start Broja, he looks a player. He and Armstrong could cause city problems with pace ( rather than the dithering Redmond)
