I've been reading lads talking about how the cashless society works in the countries that have been doing it for a long time. There's some decent benefits, tbf.

If you take an electronic only bank account in Australia the interest rates are much better. As somebody who uses very little cash, this definitely appeals to me. The Aussies have been offering this bank account for over a decade. In Sweden almost everything is cashless and even if you offer to pay with cash a lot of places won't accept it. The football stadium I visit in Holland is cashless and everything is far more efficient and effortless. No waiting about for your card payment to go through, no waiting on the staff waiting about for the till to get your change. Just give them your tokens, take your beer and they're straight on to the next customer.

Not great if you want to sell weed or pay a plumber cash in hand to fix a leak.

The tax man (aka daddy government) will scrutinise every human transaction wanting tax .

If you buy a used car do it up and sell it on that's probably going to be taxable income .

But but u don't need to wait 5 seconds to get change when I buy a beer in a football stadium so I'll lose even more privacy for a slither of convenience.


I went to a pub the other day sat down , scanned the QR code spent 15 minutes registering my bank card ordered a few drinks pressed go .

Checked email for notification.

I was 5 metres from the bar , after waiting 20 minutes for my order I walked up to the bar and ordered a pint and returned with in 2 minutes still waiting for my New normal order to arrive.

If you'd tried that in most of the pubs around here, you'd still be sat there now. Table service died in most of them ages back, and I can't think of many that ever really bothered with the electronic check in. I've never had it, and I've never had a problem getting served.

You fetch and carry your own ale from the bar now, and you can pay how you like. Some will take things other than cash or cards.

 

The pub I went to there was one person at the bar on his own and a line of about 6 people so I just sat down and tried the app.

There were 2 or 3 servers taking the digital orders but most of these were food orders too

Which arrived about 10 minutes into my bar purchased pint .

 

Like many things designed for our convenience and covid compliance they are a waste of time and annoying.

Humans have been going into public houses and buying ale from the bar for over 1200 years, it's a problem that doesn't need fixing with phone apps.
