Going to be a statement by Steve Davison later this week about it according to Barnsey on Tertle spert but it's not going to go back to cash. They are looking at being able to use a 'Sunderland Card' to top up using cash then use that in the ticket office to buy a ticket. Less than 300 affected by cash matchday ticket sales according to their figure.

Can't say I've heard of it myself...

Seems to me rather uncaring, I have no problem with so called new technology, but plenty people do, seems like we are cutting off a way of getting more income, seems rather silly decision by the club.
    I am disappointed .

I don't mind a cashless SoL but the Ticketmaster site is terrible to use on a mobile. Luckily I don't have to use it that much, only for the Hull friendly, u23s and women's game so far but it not fit for purpose.

If it is the way for the new management to have a long term vision both on or off the field I am sure they have taken everything into account.
Including a cashless SOL etc etc.
They are sweeping through the club and it will be interesting to hear what the statement says later this week

They have cashless grounds in Holland too, feyenoord you buy tokens that can be used for food and beer and Ajax have a card that you top up and use. It’s a good move imo.

I lived in Sweden for a few years, almost everything was cashless, even if you had cash, people wouldn’t want it.

It was strange at first but you got used to it. The UK will catch up eventually

Just on the wider societal impact of cashless, what if banks start charging fees per transaction or want a % of each transaction. What of they ramp up fees to have an account to £100 a month?

What do the club do with the cash from program sales? I couldn't pay contactless for that so they must be handling cash somewhere?

I've bought nothing where I work with actual cash for 15 year. Card gose into a machine, top the card up with cash. Use the card in vendors and the canteen. Quite old technology to be fair.

I heard an old man got 3 buses across Sunderland to buy a programme and they wouldn't accept his contactless card. Turned him away. Absolutely heartless.

Aye, we used to have these yellow key type things to top up then use in the canteen and vending machines. This was about 10 year ago.

I was just going to say this, mate. It's the same system inside the Vitesse stadium. I'm not sure why it's necessary to buy tickets this way but inside the stadium itself it makes everything go much quicker. The price list on the menu is in tokens inside the Gelrodome, so you go up to the counter and hand the 3 tokens over for your beer and it completely cuts out the staff rushing about for your change, having to wait at the till etc. It's effiecent and effortless.

The token machines are next to the kiosks. You just put your card in and request how many tokens you want and it deducts that from the balance on your card.

They already do over here. You get a number free per month then a fee, been in place for at least 10 years. (depends upon the type of account you set up).

On the opposite side they offer a slightly higher interest rate for an electronic only account (with terms and conditions of course)
