One unanswered question is... whats her preferred surface... Hard Court, Clay or Grass.... the rest are in trouble if she prefers other surfaces...

Would guess as a Brit she was brought up on grass for junior tournaments with most of her training on indoor hard courts.
Less and less grass international events now and i heard she'd never played on clay.
She's definitely a hard court player as she has the power game to suit it best.
Put a quid on her to go deep in the Aussie open and also Wimbledon, but more for the fact that the depth of the women's game is not there currently, though seems times are changing.

She was born in Canada, came to Britain at aged 2. She has played a lot of junior tennis in Canada and had come up against leylah on many occasions.

Oh I know, Chazz. It's a really difficult problem, I mean it's not as easy as just protecting people like Emma from the media, through government law or legal means.

We just need those in charge to act responsibly for their actions.

    It's a pipe dream, I know.

They’ve only played once before and it was a junior tournament at Wimbledon three years ago. Emma won that in straight sets as well.

Her previous coach at the LTA has said they played each other regularly in practice games.. has been interviewed regularly on Sky and said prior to this match this may well be her hardest test as they have good knowledge of each others game.

That makes sense, because Fernandez was a very worthy opponent.

Not only that....she never even got taken to a tie break, in 20 sets of tennis at elite level.....that is just ****ing ridiculous, it's been incredible watching her the past 2 weeks, even getting up at 230 on fri morning to watch the semi was worth the pain! She racked up break points in something like 43 out of 52 odd games returning serve, that is just unheard of! Her opponents are that scared of her brutal returns and ground strokes that she forces them into errors and double faults......watching her this tournamment has been like watching Nadal on clay, imperious, absolutely imperious and honestly....it never ever seemed in doubt, not last night not in any of the prior matches. This girl could go on to win double figure majors, she is that good. Thank christ we've got another tennis star to watch in the later stages of tournaments, it's been a dull few years after Murray's injuries.

Is she a red & white or black & white?

For the record, dint McEnroe question her temperament when she 'retired' from a match at Wimbledon?

    Question answered.

She speaks fluent Mandarin also, though her mother is Chinese, but nevertheless obviously an intelligent girl.

She is certainly a confident and humble person, she speaks so well for an 18 year old, great credit to her parents for bringing her up in such a way that she comes across so well they must be immensely proud of her.

Intelligent no doubt but any child growing up in a multi-lingual household will naturally be multi-lingual if the parents make the effort to speak to
To be fair John almost any child brought up in a multi-lingual household will be fairly multilingual naturally if the parents put the effort in from day 1, regardless of intelligence. I think getting 'A's in maths and economics says more about her brainpower!

Don't know if he questioned her temperament. He said the occasion had seemingly proved too much for her. A statement she later admitted was the case.

Indeed, it's certainly the best way to have a 2nd language, but you still need the ability to take it in.
