Do they make new rules up as they go along? It wasn’t a foul. What if two players jump for a ball and clash heads, one gets concussion and knocked out or breaks a cheek bone, does the other player then get sent off?
Yep. I think every fan in the country agrees with that. Nobody wants to see the lad hurt. It's heartbreaking to see someone's dream disintegrate because of a one in a million tackle. Hopefully he makes a full recovery. I hope the red card is overturned like the Son one was. Its just accidental. No malice involved and actually a decent tackle like many you see every weekend that goes without notice. It's just **** for everyone involved
I look back at Fernandinho launching Raphinha last season at City. It out him out for the rest of the season and he had to be taken to hospital twice with suspected blood clots in his leg. He would have been clear through on goal too. He got booked.
covering their backs mate is all they are doing. Only thing that was wrong it was a tackle from behind I'm sure the law states a tackles from behind are deemed as fouls. Yet the Ref didn't deem to see it reckless as he never blew his whistle on the tackle. he got caught in the moment and thought Fcuk me he broke his leg send him off.
Look at the Ashley Barnes tackle on Dallas. Just because he didn’t put him out of the match it was considered a yellow. I’ve watched the Stuijk tackle back so many times and if I take the fact I know the injury it’s just not a foul let alone a red card. As everyone says, the referee didn’t even stop the game until he saw the reaction of the players. I also feel for Pascal because he shouldn’t be branded as that sort of player
Well that should have applied to Fernandinho last season. In fact the intensity bit was probably off the scale in comparison with what Pascal did.
Meslier - 8. Couple of really good saves coming off his line. Decent on crosses too. Couldn't do much with the goals. Ayling - 4. Worked hard but gave the ball away alot. Missed a glorious chance. Was supposed to be keeping an eye on Mane who could have had 5 or 6 goals. Needs to be better. Llorente - 4. Unusually erratic. Got turned too often and took a booking. Off injured with hamstring injury....again. Still our best defender up until he went off. Cooper - 3. Booked early and out of his depth against the real top lads. Can't fault his enthusiasm but left chasing shadows too often. Firpo - 4. Not quite sure what to make of him just yet. Sometimes looks really good, other times is way out of position. Hopefully game time will improve his positioning and link up play. Phillips - 9. Best midfielder on the pitch in a team which struggled throughout. Looking more and more world class every game. Dallas - 4. Huffed and puffed but didn't really have any impact on the game. Liverpool midfield ran rings around him and Rodrigo. Rodrigo - 3. Missed easy chance. Didn't track Matip for the first goal. Not enough energy to play that role. Harrison - 3. Allowed TAA the freedom to attack Firpo with Salah. Never managed to push him back. Raphinha - 4. Worked hard. Great run and pass for Rodrigo chance early on. Never got the ball and tried too many flicks and tricks when we just needed a foothold in the game. Bamford - 3. Too many poor first touches. No point making good runs all game and then not being able to bring it under when you do get the service. Subs. Struijk - 7. Looked the most composed back there. Unlucky to get red carded after a great tackle. This lad should be Llorente replacement after his ban. Roberts - 6. Lively. Missed a good chance. He worked hard defensively. James - 4. Difficult situation. Looked a willing runner but did nothing of any note to suggest he improved the team.
Think this is very harsh against a side that were basically champions the season before last and CL winners the season before that. We’ve just got to avoid second season syndrome and it’s job done
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp tells BBC MOTD: "Harvey Elliott is in hospital, a bad ankle injury for sure. It looked like it was dislocated, the medical department put it back. Massive pain, shock for him, for us and we don't know more. We have to wait
I think the ratings on the whole and individually are pretty much spot on. We got a well deserved draw against them in the same fixture 5 months ago. We got royally butt fcked today. Simple passes not made, bad decisions and executions, runners not tracked. early days and we’ve had some tough fixtures, but we’ve been poor in every game by the standards of how we finished last season.
In short we are lacking in sheer Athletic ability. Ayling is not looking effective at fullback. But he looked more comfortable in the centre after pascall went off.
For me, Firpo was equally as poor as Harrison, by far the worst two players on the pitch. I noticed this morning he is being blamed for two of the goals we conceded. His positional play was terrible, he didn’t tackle, he lost his man numerous times and never once looked threatening going forward, how he ever earned a Barcelona cap is a mystery. We might as well have had De Bock back and save ourselves a few quid. I said at the start of the season this season had a lot of hopes based on ‘IF’ and three of those were IF Firpo is better than Alioski, IF Llorente remains fit, IF Rodrigo hits form… Sadly four games in I think we can all see it’s not looking good
