I thought that a good performance. a really good stayer with a real change of pace. A result that was very supportive of the Derby form. Mojo Star and Scope look Cup horses to me. I never rated High Definition as a potential 12f horse. The further he goes the further he goes backwards. Gutted by Reach for the Moon's defeat. Dettori apparently said he never felt right and ran flat. Maybe...
Straightforward for Hurricane Lane and Interpretation made it all the easier for him setting out in front in a move that was never going to pay off. Credit to Mojo Star for making a race of it but this was a poor quality line up. Hurricane Lane has to go for the Arc in such an open year and if it turns testing he has the proven stamina. Not sure why High Definition was supplemented for this. The colt clearly has an issue and starts struggling in his races, finding zero. His OR of 110 is a joke.
If Adayer is fully fit wouldn't they look at another race for HL? But if there's any doubt then agree he goes.
High Definition (so over hyped all this season) just confirmed he is no star Hurricane Lane on the other hand is I'd not write Reach for the Moon off yet
Reach For The Moon has had five starts now and was beaten by a colt rated 101 today. Even allowing for Bayside Boy improving, there was a 25/1 shot in third who is fully exposed and Lusail ran a stinker today, so Reach For The Moon should have had an easier task. Pushed out to 20/1 for the 2000 Guineas, while Bayside Boy was cut to 14/1, I think today's winner is too short. Reach For The Moon has not run to his rating today and with Lusail clearly below his best it leaves a question mark for me after a race where the Fav came in with 11 lbs in hand of the other two runners on official ratings.
Tell me about it. They could call me Jonah but I think the whale would spit me out because of the bad taste. At least you got a run for your money! To say that mine, Maritime Wings, ran like a drain would probably illicit objections from the plumbers’ trade body. At least I had done my money by twenty past one so I had the whole afternoon to watch the short-priced ones (except Hurricane Lane) getting turned over. As others have stated, St Mark’s Basilica would have lost the Irish Champion in the French stewards’ room. A great Arc trial for the runner-up though.
