Starting Winks in a game like this was a major mistake, but none of Skipp, Hojberg or Winks had any kind of decent game, they were out fought and outrun. But this is just the result of owners who leave us with a short squad, Winks needed upgrading, he wasn`t, Skipp is still an inexperienced PL player and Hojberg is limited. We needed a baller in midfield, but had nobody able to control the game. I have no idea why Nuno failed to change anything when it was clear after 20 mins it was not working. An awful performance compounded by an awful referee, we got what we deserved, fack all. As much as I dislike the Palace happy clappers and Jon Moss, they deserved their win. As for Spurs, the football is still poor and individual errors are still costing us, Dier injured thanks to Lloris poor throw out, a penalty conceded from an outstretched arm again, stupid bookings etc, of course it does not help when the only free kicks we are given are in our own half, no doubt Moss will be delighted when his beloved Penited go above us later.
Pretty much exactly my point - no one got the ball forward so how is this Kane’s fault? Why is anyone surprised he was invisible? Kane was fine when he was getting service against Pacos and one of those was kept on the bench. Lloris is the captain. If Kane didn’t looked fussed then no one did with the exception of Lucas, who even then done nothing overall other than a few silky runs. This is all on the manager for picking dross and not rectifying it when he had the chances.
1. Cos we didn't manage to get rid of a lot of players who are not up to a top 4 standard (Winks/Dier/Dele/Aurier/Sanchez/Davies/ Ndombele/LoCelso) so did not have money to spend to bring in better players to improve the quality of the squad to cope with injuries/suspensions etc. We ended up having to pay Aurier to leave! 2. We did not get a creative midfielder which we are desperate for and gave been for 2 seasons or so. 3. We did not get another striker which we are desperate for and have been for several seasons. 3.
Emerson, Reguilon and Rodon all stuck to their tasks. The Brazilian probably had the hardest one, too. Didn't have a perfect game, by any means, but you couldn't fault his effort.
They stuck to their tasks because Palace were dominating the game. If we had any creativity and played with attacking intent, we’d probably have said Kane stuck to his task.
But he didn't. We weren't getting overwhelmed in the first half and he had barely as many touches as Dier.
Of course he didn’t, because we barely attacked nor created anything so his task was to basically be a lone and isolated figure. We weren’t as overwhelmed but equally we still didn’t attack. A striker can’t do much if they’re being isolated. No other striker on the planet would’ve fared differently today.
Both are to blame for their own failings Kane’s excellent record does not excuse poor performances, effort or attitude for me
If Kane gets service he scores or assists, we’ve seen that for years, as simple as it may sound that’s the be all and end all of his game. If he doesn’t get that then he can’t impact the match, which is exactly what happened today. As much as we all rib Ndombele, he and Gil should’ve been on at HT at least. They’re the most likely players in the squad we had today to make things happen in midfield and out wide yet neither got on the pitch. This is all on Nuno.
I said at half-time that he should've put Gil on and put Alli back in the midfield. Don't blame him for not risking using all his subs by half-time, but he should've done the second. The shape was awful and we weren't creating anything.
He gave us something going forward, pressed well and broke up play. Not really sure what else you can expect from him if the rest of the team plays so badly.
Levy should just get on with it and rename us Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and Urban Development Football Club. Because this is what we are all about and have been for many years, our football reflects the lack of attention and focus on what matters to most of the fans. Levy has sold the soul of what most of us love, and it is only a few delusional fools that keep on defending and making excuses for this bollocks ownership. Just 3 goals in 4 games speaks volumes, a creative attacking midfielder was not brought in, Bale`s goals were not replaced and no back up to a disinterested Kane was brought in either.
I do, because it’d just be rectifying his bullshit selection and tactics. I think this is gonna be a regular occurrence too, he’s a nice bloke but a painfully boring manager. This is gonna be just like how it was under Jose.
I'm blaming Nuno. He should have taken Tanganga off after his first yellow. He ought to have made a sub at half time and changed tactics. The rest of it was a series of bad luck following the red card. CP were playing well but didn't look like they were going to score. Shane about Dier. Looked like a metatarsal break to me and could be out for 2-3 months if there are any broken bones.
I'm willing to give him something of a pass for this one, as it's early and the squad was depleted badly. He needs to learn from his mistakes though, which doesn't appear to be happening right now. We got away with it against Wolves. We didn't against Palace.
