Another spanner in the works is Oscar Piastr, he's been mightily impressive in lower formula these last 3 years and may be needing a seat next year if he wins the F2 championship. What are Alpine going to do there?
He may be less prone to issues being in a car he's not having to demand too much of. And really, I think he's in a no lose situation. If he's getting beaten by Hamilton, then he's going up against one of the most successful drivers ever. If he beats Hamilton, then he's going to totally prove his worth. Can't really lose unless he has an absolute nightmare, which is unlikely I feel.
There will be times when George just overdoes it but he’s a young driver in a potentially fast car- it’s no different to what Max has been doing and learning these past couple of years. The key thing is I believe he does possess the raw speed to belong in the same team as Hamilton. Lewis will teach him some lessons though along the way that’s for sure. It could be so exciting if Ferrari with LeClerc and Sainz, McLaren with Lando and Ricciardo, Alpine with Fernando could mix it at the front with Max, Lewis etc. A fantastic crop of experienced top class champions and super exciting talent on their way up.
I agree, hopefully the new Ferrari engine will be up to the challenge. They could be a better performer than Williams.
You should get a little bit more of an indication on Ferrari engine from Monza onwards- they are finally bringing the 2021 upgrades to last years PU. This is apparantly like a hybrid between this year and next years engine so a step forward with this would be very promising for next year.
Albon and Latifi confirmed at Williams. Nice to see Albon back. Thought would have liked to see DeVries in F1
Are those upgrades still coming? Leclerc suggested they don't expect to be up there àt Monza. Unless it's all gamesmanship.
Released for now with an option to call him back apparently, which technically still seems like an RBR driver to me. Like a footballer out on loan.
I imagine there will be some pretty tight clauses in there protecting intellectual data and what not.
I read that and he is back at home in Switzerland but what I haven't seen is how he is feeling! Anyone know if he has symptoms etc?
His wife put something on Instagram a couple of days ago saying he was fine, showing him sat on the sofa watching TV. Whether he can get the negative tests required for entry to Italy quickly enough might be tricky regardless of symptoms though.
