Hello, everyone. My regular readers will perhaps recall how sweet I've been on BEHELD (4.00 Haydock Park), what a lovely name for a filly by the way, in the past and still maintain she has the credentials to be a black-type performer. The old girl ran with great credit in her opening 3 novice events (carried a penalty in the last 2 of these) before then disappointing on her handicap bow when taking far too keen a hold and as a result having nothing left at the business end of the contest. Providing connections have remedied this behaviour then I think Beheld is very, very well treated off a mark of 84 and would take her to win tomorrow before, hopefully, being given the chance to compete at that previously mentioned black type level. And is certainly bred for that grade as her dam (Tendu) was Listed and Group 3 placed. Good luck all.
3:50 Newcastle - Lucia Changretta 25/1. Worth a little go ew on handicap debut for a yard that does quite well here.
Newcastle 1.00 Siyahamba Ran well under todays apprentice Gianlucca Sanna (takes off 7lb) when 2nd two runs ago at Beverly. Siyahamba has often run well off this mark. Stable amongst the winners recently. I think the stable has found a winnable race for Siyahamba today.
Beheld seems way short to me at 2/1. Ran too free in a hood last time but will she settle better today with the hood left off? Excel Power has won from a mark of 85 and is only 1 pound higher on 86 today. The Slade Power gelding was restless in the stalls the day he ran 5th of 5 but other than that has a steady enough profile. Perhaps ready for 7F now after winning at 6F previously, I thought he was a more appealing price at 9/2. 4.00 Haydock Excel Power 9/2
On the face of it Rishes Baar has made a hell of a debut at 28/1 today. The O'Meara horse was three lengths behind the odds-on Favourite entering the final furlong but ran on well to win by a neck. The runner up came in with an official rating of 99 and was 1/3 to win today, so that looks a mean old start to a career. My suspicion is that Vertiginous has been raised too far for running behind Zain Claudette. The Meehan filly had gone into that race rated 89 and after finishing 4th, beaten 3 lengths, in the Group 2 Lowther at York she was raised 10 lbs. One of those dodgy ones where a rank 33/1 shot gets close to the winner and gets overrated I feel.
16:10 Ascot - Dancinginthewoods (Decent chance in this 6f event. Andreas Atzeni rides for the Dean Ivory yard. 9/2 best price atm, and readily-available at time of writing.)
A quick question for the knowledgeable on here, but, honestly, could Beheld be something of a 'dog"? Just a thought
without seeing that race , i don’t now , but more pertinently is the stable form , aside one or two , the majority have been running well wide of ‘ expectations’ , some stables seem to suffer more of this than others , stoute hasn’t been exactly prolific this year , whereas some of the smaller outfits have. been in fine form all year long , muir spring immediately to mind , so the answer is , maybe he’s in a kennel atm
Hmm, just a bit too much to do coming from last place. Looked promising for a second or two, but run petered-out.
