Furness, not furnace! (Apols if I'm missing the joke).

"Etymology. The name, which is first recorded in 1150 as Fuththernessa, is interpreted as "headland by the rump-shaped island," from Old Norse futh (genitive futhar), meaning rump, and nes, meaning headland".

The Kray's getting arrested. As a young lad I remember being baffled why they were charged because before that they had been helping the police with their inquiries

Barrow is not a bad spot and for links golfers try Seascale, awesome. Lake District, scenery and the football team with a guy in charge now who was at Forrest Green Rovers coaching Jordan Stevens and sold him to Leeds Utd. This guy knows how to get the best from the kid, oh and it looks like Robbie Gotts could be going there too. Gotts is very tempted even though Oldham are offering a decent contract and SPL side Motherwell.

According to Phil Hay Costa will be gone tonight. Spanish interest from 3 clubs but Valencia favourites, also interest from Turkey and the EFL with the Blunts. A good day all around james in and Costa out

Water Shortage, summer of 1976, although having to queue at the water taps in the road to fill a bucket with water probably helped with that memory

Elvis Presely's death, think it was because my mum liked him, so had to be quiet when that was announced.

Assassination of Georgi Markov 1978 (had to check his name) who was reportedly poisoned via a pellet shot from an umbrella

Assassination of Airey Neave (1979), remembered his unusual name from when I had read the Colditz Story a year or two earlier,

Iranian Embassy Siege (1980), mainly because normal tv programs got interrupted

    I
I will be round to dust the cobwebs off you in the new year. Looks like Forshaw is the new Forshaw saviour of the midfield.

Sounds like Mark Cooper has had a great transfer window

Mark Cooper has revealed his delight after completing a Deadline Day double swoop for talented Leeds United duo Robbie Gotts and Jordan Stevens.

The Bluebirds boss has been patient in his pursuit of the Elland Road stars but made a breakthrough on Tuesday when the pair both put pen to paper on two-year deals at The Dunes Hotel Stadium.

Cooper is excited to welcome them into his Bluebirds squad, though neither were signed in time to feature in this evening’s Papa John’s Trophy fixture at Accrington Stanley.

“Robbie is a midfield player with a great athleticism,” Cooper explained.

“He can run, he can play, he can press, he gets on the front foot – and he also has some experience at Leeds, some experience at our level at Salford and the one above with Lincoln.

“With Jordan, I brought him through the Academy at Forest Green. He played a handful of games for us and then we sold him to Leeds for a big fee.

“He can play in various positions; he can operate as a wide forward, as a Number 10 or he can slot into midfield.

Think he's being a wee bit hopeful in the case of Stevens. Gotts is a sad loss for me. Good luck to all of our leavers, and the simple request that you play dreadfully if you ever come up against us! :D
