When everyone was raving about Werner, I thought Havetz was the better buy. He is a very good all round player, not just a speed merchant or a big lump that is good in the air.
I'm unsure what just happened there. For the first 15 minutes of the second half we penned them in and it just looked a matter of time. After that we went to pieces, started trying to force the play which gave Chelsea the opportunity to start ****ing about, which just made us more anxious. I'm unsure why trent moved into centre midfield, why not have him and Robertson stood on the line, allow mane and salah to move inside. Just a bit odd more than anything, strange descions. Major positive, in the first 45 we looked the better side by a long long way. Plus we've shown if you pressure jorg he will cough it up. Chelsea will be the happier tonight but I'm more positive about our chances than before the game.
I'd have (reluctantly) accepted a draw before the game, but once they were down to 10 we should have gone on to win. Chelsea defended really well though, and we have to recognise that, but we lacked invention. Lucky might bully lesser defenders but Virgil hardly broke sweat, as usual. Elliott got through a lot of work, but like others I think Trent needs to be out there. Still, to be as positive as I can, Chelsea will be serious contenders this season so a point against them will have to do. I suppose.
playing at home against 10 men with 1-1 at half time we would definitely expect to win. We had lots of the ball but couldn’t get that space and that breakthrough. Still the third game of the season, we are still there at the top.
How good is Virg tho never needs to run and slide tackle. Always in the right place. Then there is Matip who is massively underated. We really are stacked in CBs which is an irony to our last season
One moment where Matip out paced and out muscled Lukaku down the line in our right back position. He is very good but does have moment like in first half where tried to win the ball in front and got turned.
He's bloody immense. After his injury I feared he might not be quite the same but, so far at least, he's looking right back on it.
