You can already see that Leeds have the future defensive positions locked up already. Drameh at RB, Cresswell at CB, Hjelde at CB or LB and in fairness you can see that happening whenever the club need to do it. Hjelde was already in the Celtic first team squad Cresswell England U21 and Drameh England U20 and 21. Great business done by the club for the future and it will save a fortune. Lets hope Gelhardt and Co can do the same up the other end
Was reading a few reports from fans at the game last night, all of them were raving about Drameh, amongst others
For me Cody Dramehis right behind Ayling can see him being ahead if Shackelton for the RB berth Also seems we have walked away from O’Brian as we dont agree with his valuation
ThevO'Brien thing got me thinking last night after I saw the video, where Kalvin and Tyler were saying 'great player' if he's considered by fellow pro's as being so good, Bielsa obviously rates him and we are light in numbers, is £8m really too much to pay at today's prices, or are we hoping they'll change their minds last minute, notvwanting an unhappy player on their hands who may walk away for nothing.
I don't think it's the fee that's the problem - it's paying the player the salary that is appropriate to the fee, if you get what I mean. It could mean him being paid more than a chunk of the squad & cause unrest.
I have a feeling that Bielsa is the one dragging his feet and he maybe feels that over the last couple of weeks he has watched Jack Jenkins and Lewis Bate and thought these 2 are almost on a par with O’Brian now and will maybe better him by the end of this season. O’Brian isnt the finished article yet at only 22 and maybe we should wait? It will not be Orta refusing Bielsa it will be Bielsa knocking it back
Surely if we double his Hudds wage, he still wouldn't be on par with out big earners. But you never know what is wanted by players now I suppose
The players usually have little say in it, sadly. It's the agents who have driven up wages by various means for decades now. They're on the top of their game, unfortunately - their game being 100% greed.
Piers Morgan is melting down wonder if Arsenal will be ringing Warnock, Big Sam or Big Mick to take over taxi for Arteta and they allowed him to spend £150m on top if last summers £120m
NO idea if it's true but I read Dortmund want £155m for Haaland but by the time you put in his signing on fee and his agents fees it was going to work out at around £250m to sign him
It's a game of chess aint it with O'Brien. What does he have 1 year left on his contract with an option of the club giving him another year. The Dog botherers have all the worry though. Let's be honest they deffo don't look to be going up this season so another season will be lost with him. Then the club have the option of another year for him. don't know how that works can the lad refuse? I don't know. maybe someone can answer that here. You can't blame the club for trying to get as much as they can though as they aren't on there last legs with him yet. £8M-10M ? All i say is if we think he's good enough to go into our first team then in todays market its nothing money. of course it's a risk still many questions to answer about him but also many questions too in not taking the chance with him. he could double his transfer fee in the space of 6 months if successful in our midfield. He's young with bags of potential and can only improve on that ability if its really there. something we believe is there as otherwise we wouldn't be chasing him right? its one of them aint it, flip of a coin situation he could be a £10m steal or he could be a £10m dud. Obviously we don't think its a risk worth taking at the moment what did we offer £3m and they wanted £10m. we either need to take a risk or they need to drop at least 50% of their asking price something I don't think they will do at this moment unless of course this extra year the lad can refuse.
You stopped me in my tracks when you mentioned £10m. All I could think of was us getting £10m from Spuds for Jack Clarke - & hating the idea of being burned like they were.
Exactly mate same sort of thing Spurs took the risk we thought he was the dogs bollicks at the time and some were even debating was 10m enough as he had everything ahead of him now hes currently in the spurs u23's.
But £8m deffo wasnt enough when we let Fabian Delph go, which seemed a lot of cash at the time, but Delphs career took off and if it were not for injuries he would have played many more games for England. Always remember the present Mrs D sat in hospitality when baby Delph ran rings around Gillingham defence and smashed a screamer in from outside the box to rap another win up. Mrs D knew that Delph was a good footballer maybe Bielsa thinks it will take too long to make O’Brian into the player he could become. New players need to be good enough to start and maybe he wont be good enough to yet?
did Ben White play? Gooners will be looking for a new manager soon!! poor lad, he's joined a poisonous dressing room where proper big heads like Aubemeyang and Lacazette are stealing their wages ... I still feel there's a chance Leeds finish above them, they need a complete rebuild
No White and Arse are now zero points from 3 games with a -9 goal difference and firmly on the bottom
He'll certainly noticed the difference in atmosphere in that dressing room compared to when he was here.
