Joey Veerman might be an option. Being linked to Rangers. Think he's a good, young player that fits our mould. Alternatively, Ole clearly doesn't rate Van Der Beek - cheeky little loan bid?! (I'd lay an egg if we got Koopmeiners though).
Indeed, I read somewhere his quotes over the years about how he would would never, never, never, never etc play for M.City, and it's also never about money for him! But as the twilight of his career surely finally approaches, I think he's concerned more than ever about Messi. To the extent he has justified to himself playing for City is purely the best option, the final opportunity (that M.City happen to be one of sole the clubs that can afford him, is merely coincidental for winning a final few trophies to challenge/overhaul his great rival. (currently stands at Ronaldo 32, Messi 35)
Who to say we cant get Koopmeiners, a promising no.6 from Twente? albeit in the shape of Tuen's brother, Peer: Market value: £630Th.
The price they would want for Koopmeiners and the potential rival bidders being in the champions league ...? From some reading Veerman didn’t seem the Romeu type. Closer to JWP before he added some bite to his game ...
Wonder if Yangel Herrera being worth a punt if M, City are to sell at relatively cheap.. could be a good opportunity there.
Latest discussion is that they want 20m which is both not relatively cheap and indeed overpriced for his experience level so far For a club like us that WILL sell someone who meets their potential the deals should be lower fee with relatively high sell on and buy back
Messi will win more trophies at PSG than Ronaldo will at City, I’d imagine. Can’t see anyone but PSG winning the league while Messi is there but City will have more competition.
Not a rumour more a discussion on Goalkeepers. Assume we go in for Johnstone next summer as his contract expires (again assuming he lets it expire as I can’t fathom why he would sign a new one) He’d get lots of offers as a free agent but how many premier league clubs out there would pretty much guarantee him a starting spot? I’d say none of the clubs from the top half last year . It looks like it would be down to us and Palace in my opinion . Unless West Ham choose him over the wages of the guy they have in on loan at the moment from PSG Clearly getting ahead of myself but that would be such a great signing. To the extent that I’d be looking everywhere for the fund to get it done now (and trying to get Fraser to go the other way on loan even if we still pay some of the wages). Won’t happen though
I wouldn’t be upset with Tom Davies if the price was right. He’s a good player in tight spaces and having been in and around the first team there under a number of different coaches shows that he’s hard working and coachable. Still young enough and feels a bit like JWP under Koeman/Puel in that he’s looking for a consistent role and best use. If he’s not going to punish our budget then he certainly represents a good option for the position and I’d be desperate for him come December when Romeu is injured and Diallo is suspended. I’d much rather have him there than any of our other options.
https://versionfinal.com.ve/deportes/futbol-deportes/el-dortmund-se-interesa-en-yangel-herrera/ Dortmund said to be interested in Yangel, but we are mentioned too (with West Ham). €20 million asking price would put us out the running (for now).
I think it’s interesting that Davies has played more matches at a higher level than Yangel and we’re all more excited by Yangel than Davies. Davies is six months younger. The other one I always wanted was Hamza Choudhury though. He’s very fun.
Alan Nixon is still insisting that we will be paying extra to Blackburn because Obafemi isn’t going there. Such a deal involving such an contingency (the whim of another human) doesn’t make sense to me and he is the only one saying anything other than it being a standalone deal
Another one for our number 10 positions. Not certain we have the squad space really. Guess it depends on wages but don’t we have 6 people who can play in those 2 positions ?
Herrera has just had two pretty impressive seasons in a top league (and a good stint in the Europa league). Davies has been a squad player for Everton, who’s fans would love to see the back of him. Not opposed to Davies and I think we could get the best out of him, but it’s no surprise that the prospect of Herrera is at least a bit more enticing.
Everton would likely listen to offers for any of their squad players. They have to make funds for Rafa. Given they have a new manager and Davies wasn’t used as a consistent starter last year I’d think he’d fit that category.
