Looking at the available players, it is a bugger of a job to pick the starting 11. Apart from Mount, who I think has been a bit off song, everyone else has looked in great nick. So to prove that Audi is the man for the job, here's my team Mendy Chalobah Christensen Rudi James Kante Jorginho Alonso Ziyech Lukaku Havertz Can't believe I had to drop Werner, Dave and Mount as well as Kovacic. Dave I think might struggle with the pace of the Liverpool attack, Havertz has been so classy he edges out Werner, Kante is gold and Mount not yet quite at his best, while Ziyech is looking brilliant. Wouldn't be surprised if I only get 5 right !!
Getting hard to pick a team now, I’d probably keep it the same as last game apart from Kante for Kovacic if he’s fit and maybe go with Werner cause he can get in behind instead of Havertz.
Would not surprise me to see Havertz Werner and Lukaku to be honest Kante Jorginho are a must Dave and James also, fill in the blanks for the rest Herr Tuchel.
I think Werner will benefit a lot from Lukaku, the pressure to score has been taken off to an extent and the man gets into some great positions. You may have two great finishers on your hands this season.
Faaaaaacking Northerners are our main foes to the title. We bang out Liverpool, Man U, Man C, we’ll win the Premiership. Easier written than done, but I believe Tuchel can do the job on them.
Don't know why, but I have a bad feeling about this game. Wasn't expecting that though !! Not sure if the red card was deserved, but it sure cost us. What a great defensive game from the entire team, we have become extremely difficult to beat. Havertz was MOM for me, he's really starting to show just how good he is, while Mount also got going apart from his "Werner " moment. A very good result from a tough assignment, and maybe even 2 points lost.
A tough game for sure but despite the result and sending off, I feel as though we came out of that happier. Liverpool threw everything at us and, in my opinion, weren’t that impressive. With an extra man on the field we probably could have won that game. We came close even with only 10 men on the field! man exciting game and a bench mark as to where we are and what to expect.
I don't think many of us realise what a massive point that was given the circumstances. Monster displays from the defence and midfield to stop a so called red machine, we just put a spanner in it. If Anthony (Master of Ceremonies) Taylor had not had his red tinted glasses on we may well have been level with Spuds right now. We certainly came out of this game with more positives than them, the rest of the league will see this as a marker, meaning, hold Liverpool at Anfield with 10 men for over half the game massive ....massive. Carefree. Love the Havertz song, BTW
Harsh red but to the letter of the law correct, (would love to know where his arm was meant to go when he was moving his body to the right and upwards to block the ball with his thigh but hey, natural dynamics are ignored.) For 15 to 20 mins at the start of the second half you were under the cosh but they failed to capitalise on domination, after that i thought you were the better team and could well have won it.
Can't say I thought that was "deliberate" handball, as you point out the body can only move in specific ways . Yellow , OK and penalty OK, but Mr. Taylor seemed determined to give us minimum and Liverpool maximum leeway when it came to fouls or bookings. Taylor and Mike Dean regularly influence games with this approach, and I see Dean at it again with a Utd player not penalised for the foul before they scored yesterday. Show pony refs for mine, especially Dean.
It wasn't a foul mate, not sure if you have seen it but two players went for the same ball (at speed), one caught with his heal the other with his instep then their feet collided. When the player who hit it with his instep realised it was getting away from him he started to chase it but was never going to stop it reaching an oppo player so had a quick look over his shoulder at the ref and fell down in agony. Good try but didn't get the Oscar.
Had a good look at the replay, and it was a classic 50-50, with enough contact for play to be stopped and one of them penalised, that's how I saw it. Will agree that maybe the Utd player was not the one to be blamed. Still think Dean is a ref who too often shows bias, and has ruined more games than the weather. Looking forward to seeing Ronnie back ????
Really not sure on Ronny, too many good memories and a fear of over expectation by some. Still expect him to score a **** lot of goal though Playing the spuds on their board with the "foul" though, they have no idea of natural movement or 50/50 tackles unless their player is involved in which case he is a saint
I think Ronny is still an amazing player who would improve any team. What "worries " me is the amount of opportunities he will create for your young strikers and wingers !! As Silva has shown us, top class "old heads and experience" can rub off on the youngsters playing alongside. Just look at Christensen and the improvement in him and Rudiger !! Good buy in Ronny for mine.
