just shows when a bit of pace is injected the results can be positive , we were very ponderous at times I thought tonight , although credit to Plymouth for making it hard for us to break them down. Joseph always willing and given time will be a more than useful player for us . Hamar didn't have a lot to do so difficult to judge him on that game.IMO I thought Manning going off and Cooper on made us a bit weaker .
Missed the game went for a meal with the wife in a restaurant close by.....could hear the goal cheers obviously ours were far louder than that of the Pilgrims....nearly 70 % possession again I see and in the end a win to put us in to round 3 with bigger boys....wins help the confidence....and hopefully Whitt’s will go on a run from now on..joint top scorer now....
Lovely to see us score so many goals, thought the scoreline was harsh on Plymouth, who moved the ball with some purpose, they made a mistake taking off no 28, as he was a right handful, and their no 7 was effective and had some pace down their left flank...........
I went to the match, and the first half was as dire as anything I can remember. The last 20 mins was good though.
Not a bad side. When the got back to 1-1, I thought they were better than us, they attacked at pace that’s where their goal came from, our second goal knocked the stuffing out of them, think the score line flattered us. They are a tidy side. Must say I don’t see Bennett getting much game time, now I like the fella, but I don’t think he’s suited to the way Russel wants us to play. Marked improvement when Naughton came on.
Bidwell did my head in. His instinct is to play the ball backwards. Countless times there were attacking passes available to him but he chose back or sideways. I don't mind if he leaves as I don't think he is suited to football.
Absolutely agree, second half he had plenty of opportunities to get forward, he gets up to the final third and was stopping to pass it backwards.
It's strange isn't it as he has a high assist rate but he could get even more or create more openings
he's just highly inefficient though. He probably creates 1 assist per 50 opportunities. He get's in the positions but is just so negative. He plays the ball forward when there's no other options available to him.
Is it more of the case that his oppo Dhanda just wasn't getting forward enough to receive the ball or little options available in the box to cross.I thought the balls when he did deliver them were good .
Well I don't think it's a quality issue with the balls, it's more the fact he doesn't seem to want to play them. Obviously if there aren't good options you can't blame him, but I saw quite a few occasions where there was a progressive ball there to be played but he just kept his back to goal and went back to where it came from. After he did it a few times I really started focussing on his game and I was getting really irritated because I felt he was ruining opportunities. If he does end up going to Middlesboro - I feel it will be no great loss.
That looks like another good win against a team who have started their season well, another win and let’s keep it going. I was at Ynys park watching west end play away at Ton Pentre. West end coming away with an excellent 2 1 win. So a good night all round for me
