The positives for me: - Matip and VVD with a very commanding performance overall. Matip is such an underrated defender IMO and is second only to VVD. A real class act and is the perfect player to have next to VVD whilst he gets back up and running and fully sharp. - Elliot is a beauty of a player and could be our new Coutinho. He doesn't have the pace to play in the front 3 so a midfield option is his best bet. Classy on the ball with an eye for a pass. I think he has overtaken Ox now. Still, he has a lot of work to do off the ball and provide more protection for Trent. - Trent had a mixed first half and improved in the second half but the lad is just ridiculous on the ball. The second goal was world class but his assist was just perfection. - Kostas was MOTM for me. He is a like for like for Robb and it's just refreshing to have adequate back up! Hopefully he can keep up this level but it goes to show that you can buy back ups at reasonable prices - I hope for something similar for RB. - We all missed VVD's defensive side but his long range passing is crucial to our team. A lot of chances stem from his long passing. - Keita gets another 90 mins and Hendo got a start. Need to get these two up and running, getting minutes and staying fit and sharp. They weren't amazing, they weren't sh*t. They were quietly efficient but I would prefer Hendo playing on the right side of midfield instead of 6. This is where Fab shines.
Agree with Jim that VVD passing ability gives us such a boost in creative terms with those perfect long passes .
Did anyone watch MOTD? They basically turned a blind eye to all the dirty challenges from Burnley players LOL.
Anyone know what dyche was referencing when he said they should have had a pen? Apparently outside the box it’s a foul but inside it’s stuff Burnley never get? Only thing I can remember is the tsimikas shoulder which wasn’t even close to a foul and I think was outside the box so unless was something else that happened? Did make me laugh him say that it’s a foul out but Burnley don’t get it inside… feel like that’s the same for all teams tbh. Not a game goes by where a nothing challenge is a foul in middle of pitch but isn’t given in the box. That’s not a Burnley thing ffs
it was for the TAA shoulder to shoulder incident . If that was given against Burnley he would have been a new case of spontaneous combustion .
Remember this ****er actually nearly did that some seasons ago when Sterling scored at Burnley. Said they should have had a corner when we got a goal kick. Two minutes later, and about six or seven passes from our box to theirs, we scored. He made out like we'd been given a dodgy pen or something.
tbf most managers are like this , as are we , its just with Dyche it is never picked up by the media .
I can generally remember most incidents in matches but same here, watched whole thing and honestly can’t even think of when the incident happened or what it was. Normally at least anything with a hint of controversy is replayed about 10 times, the tsimikas one was shown god knows how many times, yet I don’t remember seeing any kind of pen appeal
Same. Only shoulder to shoulder I can think of is Tsimikas but, as you said, it was neither a foul nor in the box. When you originally mention Dyche moaning I thought of VVD and A.Barnes both being grounded on a Burnley corner, but again, definitely no foul. Can think of plenty of Burnley fouls that either went unpunished or without adequate consequence though.
There was definitely an incident in the box between Trent and some bloke who plays for Burnley. I was concerned at the time because at first glance it looked like the sort of thing that could have been given. Can't be bothered looking for it but I do remember it.
