I remember a while back we were looking for a utility player! Perhaps Lyanco fits that role well. He is very cheap, so the risk is minimal, also his wages are going to be less that a starting CB would be I imagine.
I thought it strange that he was seen as versatile, could play in a few positions, while other sites went as far to claim he transformed into a wolf!
Fingers crossed on this one.Hope we’re not sat here in January thinking we should have spent double on a better CB. Torino just avoided relegation last season, conceded over 60 goals. If this was the other way round it would be like Torino signing Jack Stephens
You’re probably right, but I would like to have seen a real ready to play CB. We probably have the youngest squad now in the premier league. Hope the club also stick to their word of always reinvesting any incomings as there should still be around £18-£20 million left after this signing, that’s without the small transfer funds we would have had without sales. Don’t mind if they keep it aside until January, but spend it if it’s needed.
The cost of a player includes wages, agent fees, etc so unless you know the contract details no one has any real knowledge of what's left outside of the club. Which is how it should be.
This is probably the most underwhelming welcome thread in recent memory! He doesn’t come with a massive reputation or even seem to be very highly regarded on the internet but given the recruitment we have done in the last 2 years there’s little chance of him being a complete stinker. No doubt he’s been signed to complement the players around him and I will go out on a limb here and predict he won’t be as bad as Vestergaard was when he arrived alongside Hoedt. That turned out ok.
I think the issue is he has genuinely got quite a poor history (dropped mid season last time out in a poor defence at Torino, hasn't completed a full season as a first choice CB and the Torino fans are celebrating the fact he is leaving), doesnt mean he might not prove people wrong but we all know this is the single most important transfer the club has needed to make in about 3-4 years and a proven major European league top flight level CB was required, instead they appear to be taking an unnecessary gamble on an unproven player and the clubs recruitment history is very hit and miss so the trust isn't there. I really hope he goes on to be the CB we have been missing though, I don't think its overly melodramatic to say that the clubs PL status might depend on it.
