Lauro has bottled it a bit, predicting only 2 - 0 to United, his oppo says 2 -1 United.

That was my reading of Jabbo’s post. I think he was calling Saintsfan4Life’s use of the word “disgusting” bullshit, which isn’t a personal attack.

I’ll say it again though, this is a match thread, if you want to talk about Covid matters you know where to go for that. Not here.

I’ll delete any posts which try and continue this theme from now on,

I'd almost take either of those right now. (Subject to stupid optimistic change on the day).

    I think we’ll draw this.

Im actually feeling more optimistic as Lawro says it’s going to be a tough season for us. He knows so much about us, Ings and vestegaard have left!

I don't see the league as a top 6 these days, such is the quality of teams around mid-table (your Leeds, West Hams and Evertons). The only thing I see as being clearly defined is a bottom 7 or 8, of which we are a part unfortunately. So yeah, there are 12-14 cup finals in a season of 38 games essentially. Gotta be aiming to win 10 of those cup finals, and we should pick up the odd win and draw against better teams to make it over the line.

The Premier League is just such a high standard these days.

have to say I agree. There will usually be one or two who fall apart during the season but the other 14 is a tough league all by itself.

There has been leagues within the league for years. The top has just got smaller and the bottom bigger.

This year I’d say the top 4 will be miles clear (potentially just a top 3 with Liverpool 4th). Then you have Leicester with maybe Spurs. Then Arsenal/Everton/Villa/West Ham/Wolves. Then the rest. It’s like a really **** version of Inception

If we don’t turn up on Sunday we forfeit 3-0, I’d be very surprised if we do any better than that

FWIW I think Wolves might struggle this year.

Reckon by the end of the season we will be up with most of them

I think the majority feel like that. Not because we're not good enough but because for reasons outside our control we didn't get all our signings done early so we're still settling in with a rebuilt team. Of course, a defeat won't stop the meltdown....

Play our best team in the right formation with a high press and we have half a chance. Apparently Ralph opted for Theo and Moussa against Everton because of their defensive recovery runs but Tella and Stuey are much more likely to hurt Manure and are just better players IMO. Tino deserves another start and I would play him on the left and bring in one of our players of last season, KWP on the right.

It’s like playing golf, all it takes is one decent shot or hole and you keep going back hoping to replicate it, one good result against a top teams gives us hope!

So true! It's a amazing how a 20+ ft putt somehow gets you thinking, 'The Masters next year then!'. The top teams fans miss out on the weekly dose of hopefulness, as they, rather arrogantly, assume they will win, again and again etc. Whereas we Saints supporters, along with other fans who support teams with not too dis-similar results and achievements, inhale as much of the stuff as possible and await to see if the next game produces the perfect excuse to exhale an all-conquering breath of victory! 38 opportunities a year we have for this experience! We have 37 such remaining!

Friday evening, and still no sign of my Season Ticket :steam:

Am I in a minority (of one)? or are any other of you also awaiting the rattle of your letterbox?
