Hello all. As you know, I've been writing a book. Bit of an update. Sorry for the self-promotion. I just have to do it. THE DEVIL IN THE RED DIRT came out this week. You'll find it on amazon in paperback and kindle. I'm basically trying to drum up any purchases/reviews I can prior to marketing it properly. I'm afraid the paperback cost is pretty prohibitive (issues around printing cost for a 706 page monster at print-on-demand prices) at £19.50 but I believe the kindle version is far more manageable at just £2.99 in the UK. If you like crime, you might like this. It's basically about pair of burned out, mentally scarred, and addiction addled detectives looking into a vile series of murders while the corrupt police force do their best to cover it up. Think LA Confidential with a bit of Fear and Loathing tossed in for good measure. No worries if no takers. Just thought I would give it a crack! All the best.
Just bought it (for £2.99!) Got another one to finish first but yours looks like a good read. - I'll let you Know!
Weird one. So incredibly relieved and proud to see people buying it. But so ****ing fearful of it doing less than nothing. I had a dream about a week ago that it somehow sold no copies and still managed to accumulate horrible reviews. My auld fella's best mate (big kindle reader) from being a kid in Southwick just sent him this mind... "It's a tremendous book regardless of who wrote it. Extremely impressed. Quarter of the way through. If it keeps the pace and intensity all the way through, it will be winning some sort of literary award." That is an incredible feeling.
Timing is everything. Off on holiday next week and was just looking for a couple of things to read. Usually have a novel and non-fiction so yours takes up 1 place. Paid for and will let you know mate. Good luck.
I have read half a dozen pages and I like the writing style already mate. A nice rhythmn and flow. You are competing with a year at the circus by John Sopel for my holiday time. I will be reading with the sea in view on the west coast of scotland with a glass of decent malt next to me.
I echo other peoples comments. Good luck mate. Must be an amazing feeling. I'll grab a hard copy when I have the money. (Dont do kindle)
Looking forward to reading it. I like to have a few books of different genres going at the same time, so I read depending on what type I fancy reading at the time. At 700 pages might take some time to finish !
