It is experience and he’s been a great player but at 39 years of age you should be targeted, didn’t see him been run at or moved about like he should have been.

exactly, those 2 would not have coped withKLP running straight at them & lashing one in the top corner. Surely McCann knew Davies & Jagielka could be done for speed , so why did he play Magennis up top on his own & then punt long balls up to him that they dealt with comfortably all night???

... And that's the alarming failure of that performance. Capable players didn't find a way to have a proper go at them.

I would drop Magenniss and play Huddlestone up front.

    1. The ball will stick more often.
    2. He will be offside less often.
    3. He will have more shots on target.

O.K. sounds daft , but he wouldn't be any worse.

As for Eaves, I have genuinely played with better Sunday League players. Freddie Cooper for starters.

It's bizarre. When you have a target-man like Josh you need someone close to him playing off the shoulder of their defenders. Williams and KLP were too wide as inverted wingers and so Magennis was isolated. If he won a header, it would go straight to a Derby player because KLP and Williams weren't close enough. It doesn't matter anyway because McCann has his treasured 4-3-3/4-2-3-1 formation and he'll never change it. Never changed it last season, even in games when it wasn't going our way.

Well Burnsy it's Ron off Road, I didn't go to the game tonight but listened to the highlights on SKY TV goals thing...
Thing is I'm afraid Burnsy that it could be another season like the other one before the last one, you know, Dave Ja Vu, Dave, Dave Ja Vu...

Weird comment. I never wanted Bruce or Adkins to leave. The only ones in the last 10 years I think deserved to be sacked were Slutsky and McCann after we were relegated.

I think mccann should have been sacked after Wigan. But since then he's barely put a foot wrong. He's a young manager with a young squad and hs earned another chance at this level.

Bully for you that you didn't want Bruce and Adkins sacked. Ironic that they walked by themselves anyway. Again I ask, who at our end of the market would you want to replace McCann?

...and don't take the piss with wilder suggestions.

No problem with mine. Just an awful performance to watch. No spirit. No creativity.

Me too, it was fine, only the fare dished up was the problem.

Exactly my thought during the game, it was crying out for a change of system and get Bernard on to make 3 centre backs, KLP/Magennis up top, with Coy/e/TH/Doch/Smith/Elder across the middle, might have been more productive. William looked lively to a point, but his final touch or pass wasn't great.

A dismal performance, and worrying for the fact that these are the games we really need to take points from if we are to remain away from the bottom.

I never really rated Rooney as a coach and tactician, but he certainly outdid McCann last night.

No real positives to take from the game, we looked better when Tom H came on, but by that time they had reverted to a back 5, so difficult to break down.

Coyle and Elder tried hard, Greaves and Jones looked uncomfortable all night, the midfield until Tom H came on were non-existent, Williams looked lively in the first half, but his last touch or pass was poor and Magennis and KLP didn't see enough of the ball in the right areas.

However, if we had played to the level of the QPR game we probably would have won, so one bad performance isn't going to be too damaging, but we need to get Honeyman and a fit and firing Wilk's back. Finally, on what was saw last night Tom H has to start, we need some control and orchestration in midfield.

Spot on !..Jones had a shocker and was beaten for pace countless times. Needs to be benched and Bernard given a start.. Also would start Hudd in place of Smallwood. Next two games are likely losses but then Moncur will be back and maybe Wilks. We are sorely missing Honeyman and Doherty is not the same player without him. .

I thought we lived dangerously in the first half, but got away with it, could/should have been 2 or 3 down. Naffed off that in the end only an Ingram spill was our undoing, wouldn’t be surprised if he is not now under pressure for his starting spot. Chelsea will want their keeper to play, not bench warm, and with no cup run, he may get his chance.

Very frustrating night, KLP seemed to forget why he’s on the pitch. The Doc, anonymous, was not as we’ve come to admire. Davies & Yagielka must have been dreading a long eve of young whippets running them ragged. Don’t think they broke sweat. Aimless long balls up for Josh to knock down, to who? No one there. These long balls were lapped up by D & Y. We just didn’t move the ball quick enough, run at and around them. Eaves, ‘nuff said, first pass into touch. Thought Williams was the brightest spark for us.

McCann now has to earn his corn. Momentum we had from last season has now gone. Going to be a tough season for these youngsters, and us. A few more losses on the bounce, and they just don’t have the resilience to fall back on, Grant needs to build this up and quick.

This is my main concern with this squad. Too many young inexperienced players. We need a Championship quality experienced centre half and a Championship standard centre forward.

I can’t watch another ****ing dismal 90 minutes of hoofball up to a centre forward that loses everything against Championship standard centre halves. It was ****ing terrible to watch.

    Sorry but that's bollox!!
    PL is not slower.
It's also a myth / bollox that TH slows the game down. He always wants the ball, then it's either simple pass or a 50 yarder, sometimes without taking a touch sometimes with. It's unusual if he miss-places a pass, which means the pass finds a team mate (unlike say Smallwood who time and again managed to find their players, or nobody or touch). That is not slowing the game down, it's getting us playing.
I do agree with the comment about A Jones though. But in their wisdom (McCann, Darnborough, Ehab) have left us pretty ****ed re. CB options. Genius. Hopefully recent games have now made them think differently while the window is still open.
