I hope we sign a new winger. We can't just rely on Mcgeady and Gooch all season. Mcgeadys not getting any younger and Gooch is far too inconsistent. I dont think Diamonds ready to be a regular yet either. I Know Broadhead can play out wide, but him being out there would leave is a Striker short so it defeats the object. I watched Broadheads interview before the game yesterday and he said he can play on either ring or a #10 but his favourite position and the one he thinks hes best at is being an out and out Striker.
apparently its permanent as well. two transfer fees for 2 left backs! https://www.footballinsider247.com/...=Social&utm_source=Twitter#Echobox=1629287829
Actually looks like he can play left back or right back. Played left back for their U23s but played against Arsenal in the Premier League at right back. 6 figure fee
scores against us at 2:20 here. commentator describes him as a speed merchant. wearing number 8. clearly versatile and quick
His Wiki says he was a forward for their u-18s but converted to LB at U23 level... Huggins played as a forward for Leeds' under-18 side, but transitioned to play as a left-back for their under-23 side
If he's right footed and only 20, LJ would back himself to covert to a RB on my opinion. Means we get another RB in and hopefully Hume and we're done at full back.
considering the way we want to play - a few years of his development under Bielsa's style is going to put him in good stead.
Has the injury to Evans accelerated this one a bit I wonder. Freeing up Winchester to cover midfield.
He started out on the wings mate but Unsworth got hold of him and put him upfront where he excelled, apparently.
I guess we won't know, but it certainly helps in that regard. Realistically we COULD play Huggins, Flanagan, Alves, Winchester and O'Nien at right back so we have plenty of cover there - although I think we all would still prefer a new first choice right back (unless Huggins is intended to be it).
I know very little about the lad until this morning obviously. But got to say this FEELS like exactly the kind of signing we were all hoping for. Permanent, young, premier league academy, quick, versatile, good reports from the club he is leaving.
Didn't Flanno play LB a bit for Burton? And a couple of times there for us. Looking forward to seeing who becomes LJs first choice defence.
I reckon first choice defence (if such a thing exists nowadays) will be: New RB - Alves - Doyle - Cirkin Huggins MIGHT be that new right back but on the face of it I see him as being more of a substitute option who can come on and cover pretty much any position. Subs are so important in the modern game if used properly
