Some things we know are facts: Last summer we almost signed Cuisance and this summer we tried to buy Gallagher, so that means Bielsa wants a new midfielder and so far hasn't managed to get one? Bielsa says any new players must be as good or better than existing players. New players must improve the team. So looks like O’Brian may arrive so does that mean Bielsa has decided to downgrade his wants, or will O’Brian be better than Gallagher and Cuisance and obviously Klich/Dallas
We can’t ever do a Leicester model whilst Bielsa is in charge. Bielsa just doesn’t like selling players, we also can’t afford to waste figures like £28m on Rodrigo, £15m Costa, £18m Augustin (possibly). We’ve also got a lot of players who seem pretty much worthless to other clubs, players who’d fetch a bare minimum but value to us is greater, Cooper, Klich, Roberts, Dallas all spring to mind. I get your point though, I just don’t believe it’s possible with Bielsa in charge. We’d need a manager far more willing to throw in the U23s and have players with big quick increases in value like Jack Clark
Us haggling over the price and offering add ons suggest he is for the u23s and I’d be amazed if he featured this season. This is what I find hard to digest, at an affordable level there has to be better than Costa, Klich, Forshaw and Roberts out there?
He even tried to keep Alioski. As we improve and bring in better players, we need to be saving wages and moving on our old players. Its just the way it works
Afternoon all, To me the only place we are desperate to strengthen this season is centre mid. We've covered LB and unless the right winner becomes available at the right price I think we can make it work with the wingers we already have including blooding some u23's.
I think there is a certain amount of concern after last week's showing...and rightly so. However, still two weeks to get a central midfield option in and even if we go with what we have it isn't all bad news. Phillips and Dallas to come in for Koch and Klich makes us alot stronger with Rodrigo, Roberts, Klich, Gelhardt all vying for the 10 role.
I saw a longer version of that video, the plane takes off with people clinging on and as it rises they drop off to their death!,
I'd say there is genuine concern. I'd be amazed if we beat Everton at the weekend, only because of our actual performance was so dire! What Bielsa has done is nothing short of a miracle, but he has spent over 150m My main concerns are:- Fitness We were head and shoulders the fittest in the Prem last term. All through pre-season and last weekend, we looked lackluster, tired, and just generally off the pace! Kinetic energy is so important (short sprints etc) Subs and team selection Bielsa's substitutions are too predictable, so is his starting line up. Teams have already found a way to isolate Bamford, yet he is too stubborn to change tactics. There is not a person here that wouldn't learn by their mistakes. Square pegs - round holes Give the youngsters a chance. Play people in their proper positions Bielsa has to be one of the best coaches in the World, but I'm starting to question his management!
Bet you dont sell many houses! You must talk punters out of it Light switches need replacing Dont like that view Ceiling needs painting in here Paintwork looks tired Lawns as bad as Elland Rd last season This house is a bargain but it should cost a lot more if you want to compare to houses in Manchester.
[QUOTE="ristac, post: 15112745, member: 1011549"]Phillips is a tricky one, his roll in a Bielsa Leeds team is probably the most critical. In any other team it’s not as important. Very hard to put a value on him.[/QUOTE He likes to spread it about a bit. Sandwich a few players. Uses his loaf better than most. Best thing since sliced bread
If we get a central mid in Bielsa will flog him to death in training and we won't see him till xmas. Bielsa is not the messiah and should have gone defensive at half time v man utd.
Whilst I missed the game so can’t really comment on the performance and I know it was against the scum but aren’t some of you overreacting to one game? That said, I agree that you always need to strengthen the team each season and I’m not sure we’ve done that. Are some of the U23s going to get a chance. Much as I can’t stand the scum, they do get a lot of their academy boys into their first team.
