I think Sibley will have played his last test now, hopefully. I'd keep Burns, he's alright and will get better if we stick with him. I can see Hameed opening in the next test, he's a natural opener so it hasn't been fair bringing him back in after years away and having him bat at number 3, even if the opening wickets have gone down early it's still a shift in mentality for him. Pope is probably our best hope at number 3. He's ridiclously talented and another guy we need to stick with.

Shameful that today. There are at least three players there who should never play for England again.

Absolutely agree with every word. Hameed got so much stick first innings and he did look a bit like a rabbit. But that’s understandable really considering the circumstances. Sibley is just not a good cricketer Aykley that level.

we lost it bowling today. Full at straightening at the tail and they tried to hurt Bumrah because of what he did to Anderson.

I wanted to hurt bumrah fur it too… but winning the match was far more important. And they lost their heads trying to get at him.

Looks like there’s some needle though so it’s good watching

Englands batting is truly dreadful. India make 89 unbeaten for their 9th wicket we make 120 for 10 wickets on what for a fifth day pitch was was doing nothing.

We cant rely on Joe root every innings I've no idea if anyone in county cricket is making runs at the moment but I hope theres 3 or 4 better than the likes of Sibley Hameed Lawrence and Crawley. I'm happy to give Burns another few goes at it as he has had a few decent innings. Give Bairstow time and keep Buttler but we need 2 or 3 more solid batsmen depending on how long Stokes ain't gonna be playing.

Yeah the way the Indians behaved out there has certainly set up the rest of the series now. Love him or hate him, cricket has been going short on characters like Kohli for a little while so I enjoy how quirky he is. It definitely brings an edge to the games.

Agree about our bowling we just lost our heads but Root should take some responsibility because he was equally as guilty with his field placements in desperation to end the partnership.

Just not convinced by him. Had a good knock on his debut but seen nothing from him since. Maybe I'm being hasty in the midst of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory so willing to give him another go but opening as you said earlier. The likes of Sibley Crawley and Lawrence can do one however.

The way they were acting today was disgraceful tbh. I think they’ll expect a pretty hostile crowd at Headingley, and so they should.

He has never played for England since 2016 and he would have only been 18/19 then. He played 3 test matches and knocked off a couple of half centuries. I thought he looked really solid in his 2nd innings yesterday for all he only scored 9. Sibley is ****e, I think there's potential there for Crawley at some point. Lawrence doesn't look up to test standard so I doubt we'll be seeing much more from him.

  14. Stoneman,Hameed,Malan,Root(c),Pope,Bairstow(wk),Woakes,Leach/Bess/Ali,Robinson,Wood,Anderson should be the next side v India.
Burns,Sibley,Crawley,Lawrence,Curran,Buttler should be sidelined.****ing useless! PS: Not sure of Woakes fitness.

I think Stoneman is to old to be bringing back into test cricket, I want any new players to be young so we can look to build a new team for the future. He's had his chance and blew it. I also think he's far more suited to the one day game than the longer version.

  16. We need good batsmen mate.....which he is.......age is a secondary consideration at the minute. We have an Ashes series coming up....we can't be in a youthful rebuild when we go over there....it'll be carnage with Burns,Sibley and Crawley opening the innings. Hazelwood,Starc and Cummins will be licking their lips long before we get to the Gabba. Let's get a line up that works to go over there and give it a go.

A top score of 60 in 20 test match innings as an opening bat tells me he's not up to the standard. Hameed is still only 24, I'd much rather we give somebody like him a run in the team. For me, Hameed could replace Sibley and Pope could be pushed up to number 3 in place of Crawley. Then we'd stilI have Root, Stokes, Bairstow, Buttler.

I like Burns, he just needs a decent partner, imo.

Crawley was already out the team, wasn't he?

So Hameed will now open with Burns (That could work) with Malan coming in at 3.

Think he was out of the team but kept in the covid bubble. Seems that they've been told they can leave it
