Stay, not as bad as some make out.

I can see us holding off getting a keeper in
as we can just get an emergency loan like several teams did last year if he gets injured.

This for me. No confidence in the lad personally and hope we bring in better but if plays then so be it.

Bristol Rovers on the opening day, spilling a regulation shot straight at him and subsequently fouling their lad on the follow up
Hull at home dropping a corner straight to their CBs feet
Lincoln away in the playoffs, clearing the ball off the striker instead of putting it anywhere else
Blackpool away, letting a grasscutter of a shot go straight through him
Saturday, a minging roll out which leads directly to an MKD goal.

That is without even trying, theres more.

Definitely keep him. Hopefully Preece can help iron out the mistakes.

Stay..... He's a good shot stopper and his penalty record stats are very good, best in the league...probably.
He makes the odd mistake but overall he's decent and can improve with the right coaching

Replace with better. Average league 1 keeper. Not good enough for our ambitions.

Stay, but as a number 2, If we got a keeper as good as Jon McLaughlin (along with a good RB) I'm 99% certain that we'd go up this season.

I don't feel relaxed with Burge between the sticks, but I do think he shows some improvement under this new GK Coach, particularly more decisiveness about coming out.

However I do believe L1 is his level and we would need a new keeper for the championship.

Overall he will do for now and I think we should concentrate on filling in the gaps in the outfield squad, but if we do come across a championship level keeper then I wouldn't be averse to signing them up.

Agreed. I've seen many an interview of players and staff talking about reading about themselves on supporter forums.

Of course they read forums. The only positive I can see is that if he reads this thread he will see the majority behind him.

He probs knows that anyway, and clearly LJ trusts him as well.

Don't fancy the idea of a forum where we can only say nice things about the team in case it hurts their feelings. If they're going to seek out forums in their spare time that's at their own risk.

We definitely need better, but you’d struggle to get a decent keeper to play in League One. Like it or not, he’s one of the better keepers in this division, hopefully his confidence improves with a better / settled defence in front of him.

I was a fan of Burge at one stage and thought Big Jon was lucky to get his place back in the team, in favour of Burge, when he returned from injury. Burge is a poor keeper imo and has not got anywhere near the potential needed, Patterson has. Ideally we would send Patterson out on loan as we did with Pickford who I compare him to, but we need improvement now, imo. if we are to make certain of promotion this season, which must be the aim of KLD and the backroom staff .

My view is that there’s nothing wrong with Burge. But that doesn’t mean he can’t be improved upon. And he’s in a vital position.

If the recruitment team think they can improve on him, then we should. Doesn’t make him **** or crap or any of the hyperbole statements you get on the internet.

He’s decent. But we shouldn’t settle for decent.

Agree. If we can replace with a 'Championship level' keeper we should do it, even if we have to use one of the 5 loans to do it.

I’ll also add that I’d like to see him replaced to stop the frankly tedious scapegoating of him. He’s decent. Not ****. Can definitely be improved upon. Doesn’t deserve to be treated as a reason we won’t go up etc
