Was listening to an English army officer who was livid. He said yes training, yes numbers, yes equipment… The problem was a corrupt Afghan government and soldiers not trusting them when the going got tough. He said he never thought he’d see the day (and as a conservative himself) that he’d see a conservative government surrender. He said Taliban will be hoodwinked by China and Russia and we’ll see the ramifications of this for dozens of years, he really slammed USA politicians and asked who was in charge of the intelligence service in the USA because he could have told them what was really going to happen

Some time ago I watched a program about the Aussies in Afghanistan and their training of the local army. They weren't backward in their assessment of the Afghans as simply useless. Described as lazy, corrupt and, usually, so drugged up to the eyeballs that nothing penetrated their heads.
The Taliban are in cohorts with the Pakistani military , the US/UK have spent 20 years trying to keep the peace and train up the Afghanistan army supplying them with the latest weapons and how to use them only for them to surrender when the going gets tough so now the Taliban will have the latest weapons in their artillery. Hundreds of soldiers dead,thousands severely handicapped, billions of pounds wasted what was the point?, the ironic thing about it all is the US/UK supported the Taliban in the late 70's when the Russians tried to tame the natives.
