Well under 3,000 Sunderland fans in the ground when we could have had up to 7,000
Is this down to people being reluctant to travel because of covid or something else? I’m sure we would have sold the maximum amount a couple of seasons ago.

I would disagree with a defender on his shoulder the forward still has a lot do to bring it down and shoot past a set a goal keeper.

The joys of football we all get to have our opinion.

80th Minute Lee Burge save means that we won 2-1 and NOT lose 3-2

Really? There looked more than 3K in the away end mind. The tickets only went on sale just over a week ago. It was class support.

Less than 10000 in the ground - poor turn out from Don's fans really.

High level tactics. If spending is based on turnover then we're hampering our opponents if less away fans attend :emoticon-0105-wink:

Ok. As there were 4 or 5 errors after burge released the ball, can we not ho a step further and say the ball shouldn’t have been allowed into the box so burge shouldn’t have had to distribute?

this goal is not burgess’s fault at all. Neil had ample opportunity to drag Robson down but he let him run past him. He also could’ve come to the ball instead of running onto it. Meaning the ball is never passed.

In reality, we got the 3 points because of Burge yesterday. He made a very good save at 1-2. As I say, don’t let that cloud the judgement. Doyle, Cirkin both have the ball away in dangerous areas but were helped out by their defenders around them. Burge wasn’t. Why us that Burge’s fault??

Everybody can easily criticise a keeper but very few understand the position. It is the most unique position in the whole squad. So much so they train separately in the main. A good friend of mine is a successful goalkeeping coach. He says pundits on tv rarely get analysis of goalkeeping performance correct.

What happened yesterday was Burge misplaced a pass. He also made a number of saves. Dan Neil misplaced a pass then played a through ball for a goal. The difference is it is easy to point the finger at a goalie because the misplaced pass might be more risky. I would be pretty certain though he is told to take those risks as a quick counter attack presents opportunities for us, just like Neil is asked to play the high risk pass.

My overall opinion is Burge is a typical League 1 keeper. If we could get a typical championship keeper in then I would do it. Take a look at the MK Dons keeper, arguably should have done better for both goals, but maybe that is the standard at this level.

I honestly dont think we're far from a very very strong team and I might be being picky but GK, RB and cover up front were set imo.

Haven't seen that yet but still a keeper should know when to hang on for a few seconds.

you can see Burge looking around. He looks at Neil twice before rolling the ball. To me it looks like neil misjudged the pace and tried to turn and run. Shame we don't have an end on or aerial view to see how off taget the ball out may have been. From the side on angle it looks fairly accurate.

If Neil calls for it then more of the responsibilty of getting to the ball is his in my opinion

The goal came directly from burges throw.

You rarely see mistakes like that in the Sunday league.

No it didn’t. The ball was rolled almost to the half way line! How can it have come directly from that? It was passed, touched, and finished. Far from directly.

rarely see a ball accidentally thrown to the opposition? I played and watched and coached Sunday league and kids football. You see it all the time. Difference is you don’t remember it because it duesnt really matter. I’ve seen it hundreds of times in the premier league itself. It actually happened far worse in the champions league final recently. But I guess you forget them as it wasn’t burge?

That's bullshit. I played Sunday league for many years and you would see that and many more mistakes each game.

Thank you for the kind offer of the £200 bet. Unfortunately due to personal circumstances I am unable to put any money aside for gambling.
