Gooch will cost us if he doesnt score penalties…. Stewart will cost us if he misses chances… etc. I haven’t seen their goal (and I have to say I fairly sure I have NEVER seen burge give up a goal like that before. Seen him flap, but never by accidentally rolling the ball to the opposition. Have you? Have you seen better keepers do it for us and let them get away with it as you don’t have an agenda with them?

Danny Collins summed it up. We're 0-2 up with a 6 foot 5 striker the opposite end of the pitch. Why roll it out?

Made a bad mistake, followed by some cracking saves which helped us leave with 3 points. Luckily the mistake came when we were two up.

    Typical League One keeper.

We won though, that’s all that matters.

When their player got the ball that Burge rolled out he was still about 30 yards out and most of our players were between him and the goal.
The ball took about 3 passes before the goal.
We had opportunities to stop the goal before they got the shot off.

Burge did roll the ball out too fast but there was lots of work to do before the goal.
It wasn’t a poor roll out and an immediate shot back, there were about 3 passes which could have been intercepted or their players tackled.

I'm no Burge fan but 99 times out of 100 it would not have resulted in a goal.
That was his only error that I can recall.

There isn’t a Burge agenda, man. He’s just not very good and we need better. Madness that people can’t see this.

Is it true to state that football fans always need one player to be 'got at and if he was replaced then the team would be great!

As a football fan for over 50 years this does seem a fact..

K Kilbane was one a few years ago

I really like him more and more. He is honest and upbeat at the same time. He sees the game as it is, no attempt to pull the wool over anyones eyes. It is a long time since we had a manager that I felt so positive about. I hope he gets it right and is here for years as I think he could be the sort of coach to take a team a long way.

Agree with that. He protected our high line very well in the first half as well, almost played as a sweeper at times.

I dont know why people get so aggro on here if they think a players getting slagged off or the club and they dont agree.

I thought this place was somewhere we could come and vent and share our frustrations. Some of us rate a certain player and some of us dont. Theres no need to get so pished off with people that think Burge is not up to scratch.

Personally i think hes a decent keeper, but i dont feel safe with him between the sticks because of how easy he can switch off at times. Unfortunately we're in League 1 though so thats the kind of keeper we'll have to deal with at the moment.

I know Geads scored his against Wigan, but I bloody hate that hop step and jump run up for a pen. Hard and low at the corner would be my choice. If the keeper gets there then fair play.

I agree. He even says there will be some strange looking decisions coming up but he will clarify when the time is right.

Burge played fine apart from his costly mistake. He is not a bad keeper at this level.

Yes, but not just at SAFC. There will be players at most clubs who become a scapegoat for whatever reason. IIRC Kilbane had a very good debut, and got an assist, but fans never took to him.
