Telly Terrors from me, but being selective for once - no more "through the card" attempts! Newb 150 Masekela 220 Golden Pass 255 Sunset Bay 330 Danyah now a nr so Sacred now carries the weight of my dosh! Nmkt 200 Single Follow at your peril! But good luck all
Ripon 15,45 Soldiers Minute 12/1 e/w seven places with Sky, others five Perth 15,50 Ingleby Hollow 9/2 with PP and Betfair, others 4/1 Market Rasen 18;35 Writteninthesand 9/2 with bet365, others 4/1 Good luck all.
I think that R Kingscote could have a very good day at Newmarket starting with Roudemental at 1300 and ending with the last 3 races
Morning all, To be fair I don't fancy much today which is unusual for a Saturday so I've backed a couple in the place markets with Skybet doing their extra places. Main one was TACTICAL first 4 places at 7/4. When I first looked it was 11/4 before the non runner. Not much between them on ratings and going by yesterday's results it looked like being drawn low was the way forward so drawn in stall 1 I'm on Tactical. Two that I have backed to win though are: 3.00 Don MOTAWAAJID 10/3 4.15 NM DEGREE 7/2 Good luck all
Just a lazy treble for starters today. Philomene got a terrible ride in the Prix Diane and quite simply should have won the race. The jockey gave her far too much to do and she was flying at the finish but could not catch Joan Of Arc. Derab is interesting with Frankie making the journey to Deauville but Andre Fabre is flying at 37% this past fortnight and I felt Philomene had further improvement in her. It seemed from the start of the season that she was the trainer's best 3YO filly. Masekala brings proven form up against Bayside Boy's potential at Newbury and I prefer the bird in the hand theory here. Runner up to Guineas second favourite Native Trail last time I feel the Balding runner can land this lower class contest. Also at Deauville Just Beautiful finds herself in a weak looking Group 3. She was 6th in the Falmouth and the form of that race could scarcely have worked out better since. I reckon she has 7 lbs in hand of her field and 6/5 was a fair price to me. 1.45 Newbury Masekala 13/8 2.50 Deauville Just Beautiful 6/5 3.25 Deauville Philomene 5/2 Win treble. Good luck to all.
Pleased to a degree with the run of Single, and I know that she was being ridden by a 7lb claimer, but what a half-hearted attempt to get the horse to the front. Gentlest driving I've ever seen!
18:35 Market Rasen - Writteninthesand (Agree with Pilgrim here. 15-runners in a tricky-looking handicap but, nevertheless, a weak-looking contest? Hopefully, selection has fully-recovered from a recent wind op. to do himself justice. J.J. Burke takes the ride for jumps trainer Tom George. 11/2 freely-available at time of writing.) 16:25 Perth - Bellaney Gem (Sound chance to run a good race for Irish trainer S R B Crawford. Adam Wedge on board. 13/2 available in a few places at time of writing.)
Woohoo - Sacred helps me out - 2 winners !!!! Delighted to have NOT bet in the cavalry charge silver, but got small ew 7 places at 16-1 on Lincoln Park in the next
Well it was William Haggas who one took the two French Group races today with a double that paid over 100/1. The French just cannot seem to win their own good races. Haggas landed the Group 3 with a filly rated 90 and won the Group 2 with a Handicapper rated 101. My selection in the fillies race came in rated 20 lbs higher than the winner. In the other race Philomene travelled easily into contention but when the jockey pulled the trigger she found nothing whatsoever. At least she was in contention this time and perhaps the fact that she was kept closer to the head of affairs meant that the juice had run out. Derab was at the back most of the way and was soon under pressure, he never travelled at all and was cooked a long way out, weakening into last place. After a dismal showing in France last time he came, you would question if he might be better served staying nearer to home. Then again, this looked a good chance to get a Group 2 on the CV but ironically it was the Haggas Gelding who has the Black Type but no balls to make use of it with. I was hopeful of landing the 19/1 treble but one filly under-performed today and the other clearly just isn't good enough. The French fillies Classics look duff please log in to view this image this season. Only one winner from the French Guineas in 19 starts and zero winners from 10 starts in the Prix Diane.
Writteninthesand won. Ingleby Hollow 2nd (shd). Unlucky, the omission of the last hurdle made him lose the race, if they had jumped it he would have won. Well done SwanHills.
Not a bad day, Writteninthesand at the 11/2, and nice drift to 17/2 for second place Bellaney Gem, for an e/w which I didn't do!
