I'm not so sure. Considering we had one of the very worst defences in the league last season, I'd say we need to sign someone who is an upgrade on Bednarek. It would be great if we go into the season with Salisu and a new signing starting then Bednarek and Stephens as pretty solid back ups.
Pretty sure last night on the forum, Ralph said “when Vesty has gone”, as if he already knew? Hoping we have a CB lined up, though don’t be suprised if we wait to get the best player on the best deal as think he’ll be happy to go with Bednarek and Salisu to start the season.
Tanganga would me my preferred option. Fits the club profile perfectly. Young. Move to first team football almost blocked at current club. Versatile across the back 4.
Twitter is doing my nut in tonight. Southampton are trending with everyone saying we are having a fire sale/ we must be in administration etc and dead certs for relegation. On our side of the fence we are smiling at what a decent window this is turning out to be. People literally haven’t got a clue about other people’s clubs. I will remember this before making any comments on their clubs.
Understand Vesty wanting out so can't blame him refusing to sign a new contract and us accepting a bid. I love our club but our stadium atmosphere is not the greatest. Once someone makes a mistake the whole ground gets on their back. Just hope we can be upbeat with some of the new signings as we appear to be going for the younguns with limited experience who will not be able to cope woth the groan every time a 50/50 goes their way.
Laughable to think this would be the reason why he is leaving. Especially having pretty much not played in front of our fans for close to 18 months He is leaving because he can get more money at a club higher up the table. And an added bonus is that he might not be constantly under pressure. Especially in a back 3
The strangest think was seeing Carl Anka who covered Saints a year ago writing as if he knew nothing about the club at all. Surely 1 year away covering Man United isn’t enough to make you forget everything including how to research things like Ings being in the last year of his contract, no re-signing and therefore a sale being inevitable. Or Bertrand being close to useless for 18 months ...
That’s one of the reasons I’ve decided not to renew my ST this season. The collective groans every time something doesn’t come off, the persistent barracking of individual scapegoat players and the inconsistency of refereeing plus VAR have led to me taking a break. But… I’m really going to miss it and probably will get a half season ticket if they’re available.

I totally understand your frustration! A Liverpool supporting ‘friend’ of mine messaged me this evening to ask if we were selling all our players. My reply was: No, just the ones who only have 11 months left on their contracts and are not wanting to sign a new one meaning they will leave for free… Also at least they haven’t gone to Liverhampton!
Completely agree. Haven't resorted to not renewing but have had to move my season ticket seat this season. Have had to put up with borderline racist remarks around Redmond for 2 seasons from the guy in front and constant groans every time we do something wrong. Hoping the new seats will bring a change of vibe. Oddly the best vibe was at the top where everyone was having a great time but not as great a view.
No ones been at the football for a year so if you’re leaving now seems a bit odd. Can’t you just move seats
Both of those things are true, to some extent. We've had a good window; we're also in a somewhat precarious position. But I think most of us here recognized that we were in a somewhat precarious position entering the summer, and are grading our window with that in mind, whereas people who don't follow Saints closely likely are only paying attention now that those sales (which weren't unexpected) are happening.
I guess to the outside, ings/Bertrand/vesty looks like we have sold 3 of our 5 most important players. So I do get it. Luckily the club seems to be on top of the situation. If JWP goes too then I’ll panic
