PSG are going to have to shift a load of players now, and quick By looking at Wikipedia they've got 27 (28 with Messi) in the first team squad (French league rules allow them to register pretty much as many as they want, but not CL rules), most of them non-french (and therefore not HG). Not to mention FFP which they'll probably find a Man city way around. Who's up for the chop? Icardi, Draxler, Mabppe
not sure how he will survive the years without the seaside, the mansion and only 50mil a year after tax to keep him in pork scratchings. Really feel sorry for him i do. as you can tell.
It really shows the corruption of the french league. Most clubs are exporting players but one gets to import any they want. don't worry about FFP. its about ego. mbappe sale hurts thier ego. they now what messi, neymar and mbappe. they have hakimi at RB, Daillo at LB, god knows who is the midfielders. icardi, draxler, di maria are all now reserves. Paredes, perieira, wijnaldum, herrera and others in midfield
Now now, he had a whole day to get over the pain, anguish and betrayal of Barca. Plenty of time. I think a bumper new contract might have helped ease his suffering though... Ridiculous man.
Apparently Spanish law prohibits anyone from working for less than 50% of their previous contract with the same company. Can't say I understand this very well, and atm I don't have time to investigate further.
Presumably some sort of worker protection law. I know of a major company here where the employee council made the company introduce a rule that people could only be offered three temporary contracts before they had to be offered a permanent one. Unfortunately I know of two people now where they and their immediate bosses wanted to keep them on, but they couldn't get a permanent position cleared. Although in Messi's case even no wages doesn't help Barca completely.
Gerrard has just set his level. 1-2 to malmo first leg and then they were 1 up with malmo down to ten men at half time tonight. They have ended up lost 2-1 on the night and 2-4 overall. Scottish football is judged imo by the performance in the qualifiers. He has just dumped all the achievement points he gain last season in one fell swoop. Just another Scottish league standard manager
Ironic that the guy sent off was called Innocent. Bit early to be writing Gerrard off yet. But three defeats in a row is a new experience for him and it will be interesting to see how he and Rangers bounce back, especially as Celtic seem to be finding some form.
This is massive though, it impacts financially which is massive enough but it really takes the shine off his prior season
Does it though? An invincibles season is an invicibles season, something they already can't repeat. That's in the bank. It says more about the state of Scottish football, but we knew that already. Judge him over the course of the season, not three results. CL qualification would have been massive. Not Qualifying is standard.
Manager needs to prepare them. Malmo are hardly top class are they. Manager should calm them and keep them focused and all that. They have blown it massively here. As we judge celtic managers by Europe should we not judge Gerrard the same way
All I need say I suppose is Lennon lost at the same stage last season, Rodgers managed 2 cl group phases and lost out once and jumped ship.
They're considerably better than almost every team he's faced in the Scottish league. I've never seen anyone on here rave about Gerrard's achievements so far, just an observation that it's a solid - and necessarily modest - first step to his management career.
