Lawrie McMenemy for me He left Southampton on 1 June 1985, but made a return to football five days later when he was named manager of Sunderland, who had just been relegated to the Second Division. At the time he was the highest-paid manager in English football, but his time on Wearside was not a success and he quit in March 1987 - just weeks before Sunderland fell into the Third Division for the first time in their history.
If theres any defending Wilkinson he took over a sinking ship that no man would have saved. Bruce is into his 3rd year and has played with millions of pounds and overhauled the squad over n over. Wilkinson was a goon but almost comedic. Bruce boils my piss, i didn't even stick around yesterday to hear what excuses he came out with
In 1985 i was 13, so young enough to just getting into the fever, old enough to know he was a twat and what a terrible appointment it was.
Bobby don't think that you can pin that on Bruce think it was always the intention of Shorts intention to take over and for Niall to step down as Chairman.
****ing ridiculous question, short sighted stuff like this makes us look like ****ing morons. I'm not a fan but he hasn't disappointed in terms of league positions at the end of the season (yet). If he get's us relegated he's as bad as Mick, Howard, Roy and so on and so forth. Until then it's a ridiculous question.
Most unpopular? Not by a long way (at the moment) Popularity is fading though as at present he is failing to live up to the expectation that we had for this this season, after finishing 10th last season, and were hoping to push on. Maybe in the coming weeks he can restore some of his credit, but time and patience is running out for him. (already has in my eyes).
