Not at all mate, perfectly right. What's daft is people saying we're skint, claiming there's no difference to Donald's reign or that we're not actually trying to sign players. I don't see any reason why we can't question what these people are saying.
It was apparent from day one or even prior to day one that we were going to see a massive change in how the club was going to be run from totally unprofessional and slapdash to a plan to build an accountable infrastructure to manage our club in the way we wanted due to the Takeover . I am totally supportive of the new regime and their philosophy and principles , in the past we have management teams who were panicked in to making lots and lots of financial mistakes due to in some cases just to appease the supporters . The new management style will get things right on the recruitment of players I am sure but we have to remain patient and be as supportive of the players we have in the team currently and any new signings that we manage to bring to the club . Come on folks sing your hearts out for the lads !!!
Just a thought. Are emergency loans just for keepers? If not, get a couple of fullbacks in whilst we work on getting the permanent deals over the line.
Agree with that - I actually would be surprised if we were spending huge amounts. As Grumpy says we are limited under the rules. Still would have liked a bit more activity but I will be there on Saturday so I am still daft!!!
We can out a very good first 11 for this division, we have players who can play fullback till we get the right players in. We def need to strengthen though as long as they are the right players
There's no chance of that mate. We have O'Nien, Flanagan, Winchester, Younger, etc, who can all play full back. Good ide though
I don't think it's true mate, and hope it's not, pretty confident he'll be in a Sunderland top soon, be abit gutted if he's not
Actually I think it’s healthy we are scrutinising the transfers more. It’s a good thing generally, I like we have a plan and a system jot just any old free transfer, but not signing players in crucial positions and gaps prior to the season isn’t good at all.
Cheers - can you imagine if he goes 10 games without a goal after all this fuss - you know it's the Sunderland way
Sadly not. Even league one clubs are expected to have at least one specialist full back on each side in their squad so no emergency loans there.
But it’s far from ideal. Square pegs in round holes at the back arguably cost us promotion the end of last year, equally having costly substandard ones like Grigg AOB or McLaughlin. So we need to get the balance right. I’m not sure we have so far, but hopefully we will be happy by the end of the window and we reflect on mistakes made.
Well drilled defensive units matter. So do you feel ok about things ? Or is it as I say far from ideal ?
Neither of those extremes tbh ... ... I want players in but not ones we hope will fit only to find out they don't. McFadzean had plenty of time to become part of a well drilled defensive unit but never did ... .... the last thing we need is more like him, especially if we don't 'haggle' and end up paying them for being shyte over the next three years. What it boils down to is whether you trust the people at the club and think they know better than you ... or you don't.
Sadly there are 2 sides of this discussion who are bith entranched in their positions. Its stifling one of the main purposes of a football forum, Debate. I just hope when the window is closed we can come together as a fan base and get behind what I hope will be a winning team.
No it's not at all, people are debating quite happily. Just because you can't persuade people to agree it doesn't mean they're entrenched ... ... perhaps your argument just isn't convincing. The fan base is very much together as far as I'm concerned, I'll get behind the team whatever happens.
I've just had a quick look at the Wigan 20 man squad. There's absolutely nothing to be afraid of there imo. Of their new players I'm not sure I'd be too excited if we'd signed them . Respect them but we'll finish above them.
