There's also a distance factor, play games at Craven Park (which is actually most likely as they have a much better deal than we do) and fans in West Hull aren't making what can be an hour long trip in traffic on a Thursday/Friday. Likewise Rovers fans will be put off coming West. If it happened its likely new amateur clubs would be formed and diehards would go watch that.

I'm not aware of any UK sports teams in any sport that have merged and made a success of it. Its just not what we do where, unlike America where an NFL club can just move miles away and fans turn up.

Can't travel across Hull. Does he think all the Leeds Rhinos fans live in Headingley? Or that travel is easier in Leeds, Bradford, Salford? How long does he think it takes football fans to travel to get to games? Especially FC and Rovers ones who also "support" TWS, Man Utd and Liverpool?
A lot of people in Hull have a small town attitude rather than a city one.

RL doesn't mean much, but that's no reason not to laugh at some of the followers. :emoticon-0102-bigsm

Local media keep putting it up there like a lame clay pigeon.

Difficult to resist taking a pot shot at such an easy target.

Also, be honest, RL fans don't help themselves with their daft opinions

It's even harder to care less as an East Riding fan of City. RL always seemed like Radio Humberside's and HDM's equivalent of the test card.

I thought FC merged with Gateshead Thunder and moved their franchise down to Hull ?
Unbelievable selective memory from 'ullfc' man

Wonder if he has wondered why Newcastle's Football club is called United?

Obviously doesn't know FC merged with White Star either.

Sky Sports is the driving force behind the proposal by the RFL to reorganise Super League from next season, League Express understands.

The broadcaster, which earlier this year agreed to continue screening Super League matches for the next two seasons, has apparently expressed its dissatisfaction with the quality of some games it has broadcast this season.

It has told the RFL that it now has two years to get its house in order, or risk losing a Sky broadcasting contract altogether.

You mean like Liverpool or Everton winning away at Cottingham ?
Having said that I have a HKR fan amongst our clan now. He buys three season tickets every season, two he gives away to friends. Proper fan and he loves the game and Rovers. Personally I see nothing in it and he says the same about football and Test Cricket, which I love.
This is how small the RL world is. We were out on Sunday and he recognised a HKR player from about 10 years ago, and the player recognised him and knew his name because he once bought a stereo system off him ! He took three of my clan to the game last night, bought them all replica shirts and booked a table in the sponsors suite. That's a real supporter for you. I'm returning the favour when we play Derby, without the replica shirts.

That small town's team has won more Championships and Challenge Cups than the two teams in the city that is the capital of rugby league combined.
Meanwhile, way across the city and a long, long journey away from West Hull, the other team were beaten in a game in which the HDM were telling its readers Rovers held all the cards.

FC fans seem to exist in a parallel universe. Comment from one of them under the report on last night's debacle -
"If it was the olympics we wld have got silver a little bit better from match against leeds but still way off the mark."
