In this country SAGE ‘experts’ said back in February 2020 that lockdowns do not work. Then unscientific Neil Ferguson predicted half a million dead by Christmas so they recommended a lockdown. Lockdown did not work, adulterer Ferguson broke the Lockdown rules and resigned; and Xmas Armageddon never happened.

Digital currency is just an electronic form of fiat money. If I pay for my shopping with a ten pound note or I pay for my shopping with a credit card the ten pounds exists because both buyers and sellers accept it in exchange for goods and services. As fiat money is no longer pinned to anything of actual value it is just the exchanging of IOUs. While physical notes and coins continue to exist, a digital currency cannot be all controlling as I can simply take my money out of the bank and put it under the mattress.

Since Nixon abandoned the gold standard fifty years ago, the US dollar has depreciated by 97 per cent but it is still considered the world reserve currency because of the economic status of the United States. This is why so many commodities are traded in dollars.

Cryptocurrencies are purely digital and their value is nominal. As they are stateless they have obvious benefits for criminals. For users they have the benefit of being able to change between fiat currencies without fees; and they are also attractive to people who live in countries with unstable currencies, hence the popularity of Bitcoin in places with hyper inflation such as Argentina and Venezuela. Given the huge amount of Bitcoin that Elon Musk bought via Tesla, you might as well own shares in the car company that will never pay you dividends as its share price if effectively a Bitcoin tracker.

 

I saw government advisor Jonathan Van-Tam on the BBC News Channel earlier doing a question answering session with young people. It was most disappointing that he chose to use misleading ONS numbers to try and make a case to a young lady asking about why young people should get vaccinated because the plague only affects old people.

He did correctly point out the myth that the young are immune from the plague, which eliminates him from the Christmas card list of all the conspiracy theorists on here. Many of the people in hospital now are in their 20s, 30s and 40s.

However, he quoted the statistics for January 2021 when of those hospitalised just 1 per cent were in the 25-34 age bracket (the questioner was 25) compared to June 2021 when those hospitalised had risen to 6 per cent. This is disappointingly disingenuous of the Professor because he surely knows that the reason that the percentage has risen for younger people is because the number of older people (the first vaccinated generations) hospitalised has fallen markedly. If 100 people were in hospital and only one was 25 then that would be one per cent. If 80 old people never presented then one 25 year old is now five per cent. Two thirds of those now being hospitalised are under 65, predominately much younger. The most serious cases presenting are amongst the unvaccinated.
