We could be in the mix for 15 players....who knows until it happens. The main thing is that it's the right 15 players to fit the plan not 15 lads from oxford (or similar). I'm confident we will have the squad the gaffer wants by the end of the window.
I appreciate you can't give us details or such like but with the information you're privy to are you still feeling positive we can make a decent fist of promotion despite our restrictions and financial limitations?
Nobody really knows how many, if any, we have missed out on. I'm choosing to be positive about the season. I think we will get the players in by the end of the window.
I wish I could be positive but I just can’t see how there is any way of being positive. You can’t spin our situation into a positive one. There is about 10 days before we kick off the season and don’t even have a senior full back that’s without mentioning the various other holes in the squad. It is an absolute disgrace to be honest.
I believe we will be competitive in the league, do I believe we will win the league outright..no. Personally, I believe we have a weak spine in the team..and no proven goal scorer at the moment. My thoughts might change in the next 3/5 weeks..depending what business we do. However, the info coming out is that we have a budget and it must be kept to. Expectations of supporters must be managed.
thanks. I’m still getting to know RTG as have been lurking there a bit more over last few weeks. not going to post there unless somebody pays me
This is something I will never understand. Why a forum would want/look to destabilise things as soon as we've had the takeover we wanted. Anyhow, I'd rather have Neil, Diamond, Younger, Embleton playing for the shirt over Power, Wyke and hopefully Grigg. Friday will be more of the starting 11 with new signings coming in over the next couple of weeks. KTF.
They've only got Chaz the donkey up front, we will be fine. Just let him have one on ones with the keeper. We will be fine.
We will lose between 8/10million this year..2 players on 6k a week for 2 years works out over 1million on finacial packages over the term of the contract for those 2 players. 4/6 new players will be a huge investment from the club this year.
Thanks for all of these updates over the months and years. I like the sustainable budget model approach as it is the only way forward really. But any idea if the sustainable budget model is say a 3 year one taking in the risk of planned increased revenue from a promotion and 40K crowds? If we try to be sustainable on solely projected league one revenues then may be harder to compete with the spending clubs. If KLD had come in and did this straight after Short I could have lived with that, but two more years down here recovering from the chuckle brothers squandering will be hard to bear. That would be 5 years.
No update on timescales. But plans in place for the club commercially and on the recruitment front. We must trust the process and KLD. Remember, he wants to be successful and leave a legacy..plans take time..expectations need to be managed by the club.
Why not the January window then? I think each signing and the squad at the time of each one will be judged by many fans but the squad when points can be won or lost (season start) is when serious judgement should take place. Mention has already been made of the need to settle into the area, get match fit, bond with team mates and get coached - these needs should not be underestimated.
