If I seem spiky Ellers...it's because my family has been pinged...and my eldest daughter is unvaccinated as she is 38 weeks pregnant.. Original information was for pregnant ladies not to get vaccinated, then as she entered 3 rd trimester, the info changed that ladies in the first/second trimester should get vaccinated. We are now in limbo...and pinged through a contact in my granddaughters nursery. Fingers crossed... Just very very worried
I know it will probably disappoint some but I listened to the expert on the news and he said the reason the cases are going down is because of the vaccine. It's actually the first time they can say this because in the past we were in lockdown. Then again what do they know when I should just believe what I read on here? Where's G-hoop again?
I'm just saying what I heard the fella say on the news. They also said that serious cases were falling. I know this comes on a day when we lost 130 people but they all seemed quite positive about the news.
No you are right Ellers. The vaccines are restricting a lot of the more serious effects and hopefully restricting hospital admissions ....but the youngsters are still getting infected...and we do not know, as we are not testing any more We are getting too blasé about this and thinking it is all over....and the fat lady hasn't sung yet It isn't over. The Times newspaper is predicting only 68% of the under 30 are getting vaccinated, and that number is not increasing. This will allow the virus to circulate over summer and we will be back in lockdown in October. Again the government is sending out..."look at how great we are messages".. prematurely
I can only hope youre right mate or should i say the expert on the news. Unfortunately, the pessimist in me sees the decline in school children being tested, uni students not doing them at all, teachers not bothering and quite a few of the general public not wanting to isolate as key factors. Dont get me wrong, i hope im way off the mark but it seems a mighty coincidence.
I was about to employ 2 students to labour on a job for us in headingley (Leeds). Partying till all hours, dont follow any restrictions etc etc. I told them they would have to do a lateral flow test every couple of days as thats the rules i have to follow. No chance was their reply. Nobody bothers with them then you dont have to isolate as nobody knows if your positive. Needless to say, i didnt employ them.
There is confusion amongst the experts about the reasons behind this rapid fall in infections, but I have heard several say that school kids and others no longer taking tests could not account for all of the fall. But, as I said above, it’s the numbers ending up in hospital that matter. If the vaccines work, as they seem to, the vast majority of infections will be mild. The main worry with lots of infections would be long covid.
Fingers crossed indeed for you all Beth. Hope and prey everything keeps clear for you all and especially your daughter.
Thank you everyone...All well at moment. Waiting for PCR to come back ( lateral flow test negative) But she has a nasty cough...but that could just be a nasty cough.
I think sometimes we forget that colds/flu/hay fever and many other conditions still exist. For myself and a friend we both got colds. Both of us had 2 tests and both came back negative (including a PCR). I also suffer from hay fever and this year has been bad at times. I have had the odd cough and sneezing. I think now we automatically think the the worse.
