Didn't realise that. From Sky Sports: "The Premier League has confirmed the summer transfer window in England will run for 12 weeks from Wednesday June 9 and will close at 11pm on Tuesday August 31." Means it shuts five weeks today.
Have the journalists that make these things up to get clicks not realised that we don't have that kind of money. It's been pretty well publicised at this point. It's not a secret. You might as well rule us out of any rumours above £10m.
Hopefully he has improved since he was here last time as I wouldn’t want youngsters learning from him if he hasn’t
I don't think the aim is for him to pass on his technical ability. I think he is being brought in as a experienced pro who has been in the game for 15 years and will have experienced more than any 18 year old no matter how good they are. It will probably be more about his mentality and how to cope with the pathway from youth to first team football. I know he has never played at the top but the jump from academy to football league is still vast.
Yeah. Klopp and Co threw their toys out of the pram regarding the window closing on the eve of the season, so got their way in getting it changed back to end of August.
Having the domestic window and European windows closing at different times was truly silly, though. The PL had hoped that the continent would follow, but nope.
Should probably have stuck it out a bit longer if they really hoped others would follow. Was far better imo.
Yeah it needs to be aligned really, but it makes far more sense to have the window close on the eve of the new season. The issue then is that all the leagues kick off on different dates so that would need to change
Has it been permanently pushed back to the end of August for every summer window again? Or is this year’s deadline because of Covid and the season ending later (and the Euros)?
I totally agree that it makes more sense to have the window close before the season, but as the European leagues were gaining an advantage by sticking with their window, there really wasn't any pressure on them to alter course. It probably needs to be done via an agreement with every league, or not at all.
Nothing is permanent. Just look at how quickly they went back to the old position. But yes, the intention is that this is how it will be going forward. It isn't planned to be a one-off.
Just listened to Ralph with Adam Blackmore after today’s friendly and I think he said we want to bring in players ‘in the full back positions, a 6 (DM) and a centre back’, but may have misheard. He also said he wanted to keep Lemina.
