I suppose the sign of a good pre-season is getting good results in the season openers.
Better than winning all the pre-season games and losing the first 5 league games.

So with Moore and Bacuna recovering from Coronavirus and Morrison still allegedly injured it’s not looking good for our first league match. Should be interesting to see who plays against Newport but I can't see any if the above starting without match practice.

Smithies starts v Newport with Phillips and Ratcliffe on the bench. Morrison returns so likely first choice back 5 playing.

Collins up top so only real change if all fully fit would be Moore for Collins unless he wanted 2 bruisers up front.

 

Smithies had a good game today albeit he wasn't called upon too much. Good reception from City fans for Joe Day in the Newport goal who pulled off some good saves. Had me thinking why we let him go but we don't need three good keepers and he needs to be playing. Good luck to him and to County for the coming season.

A friend of mine was running the line in front of the grandstand. We had a bit of banter before the game, mostly about glasses!

I think someone like Harris gives us something different. Showed last year he's comfortable at this level.
