All looking positive BUT need to keep perspective here. We do not necessarily have enough quality yet for automatic promotion and a run of injuries would soon expose the lack of depth in our squad. While it is undoubtedly exciting let's keep feet on the ground. I hope the Board does not revert to its previous, 'one more roll of the dice, double or quits ie you may be out of a job' attitude. It takes years to lay the foundations and build a team that can compete. Warburton has had 2 so far.
Warburton said we are done once Odubajo signs, other than replacing any that leave. I doubt he meant replacing Masterson, though if we could add a loan, that central defence and defensive midfield area where Field / Ball operate is where we look most in need of cover to me.
I've always thought that Betteche has the makings of a good player. He looked great on Saturday. He has primarily been developed as a CDM, if I'm not mistaken. Maybe he could step up this season whilst Field is out, rather than going out on loan. However, whenever I've seen him play, his style seems to me to be that of a CAM or CM.
Looks like Eustace is set to agree a new contract. Would be interesting to know if the board had some influence on his decision to reject Swansea and stay (succession management planning dare I suggest). Looks like MW is due to sign a new contract too. I’m not used to this continuity and steadying of the ship with a long term perspective. It’s all good. Just need to bring it all together on the pitch now.
I can't help but think Brentford has had a big influence on the owners as a club to look towards for a model, in terms of slowly building and doing things the right way. I'd be happy with that because Brentford has been run wonderfully in almost all areas. One area I wouldn't like to follow is their recruitment. I'd always like us to keep a concentration on signing home nations players (including Republic of Ireland), with players outside those areas being supplemental.
Bettache usually looks good when he's got a few minutes. He looks more of a front footed attacking midfielder to me too.
I thought he might have got more game time than he did last season, already looked bright when he debuted at the end of the season before. Hasn't had a loan yet has he?
Any news on Odubajo? My Wednesday mate loves him, any thoughts from anyone who watched the Man U game?
I would sign him in heartbeat after his performance against Manure...but I do not know his dubious ( injury stricken) history. He did not feature last night. Yes I would sign him immediately and then I would think our search for a RWB or winger is over
Any news on the millions and millions we are going to receive for Kane from Citeh......or have I got the wrong Kane.......
Hi stainrodnee, welcome back to the forum, you haven't been around for a while. Is it going to be a glory or not glory year?
