Looks like we can cross Andersen off of the list of CBs, appears that he will be signing for Palace who seem to be doing some good business.
Not overly fussed at that one. I can see why he may have had admirers due to his passing range from the back but I’m not sure he was someone who would’ve transformed our defence from a purely defensive aspect. Having been loaned to Fulham and now set to be sold to Palace with Lyon seemingly happily to do so, doesn’t strike me as a player we should be too disappointed to miss out on.
One thing Andersen would have offered was he'd get the ball out of the back quickly either by passing it or bringing it out himself, and he also has some accurate long-range passing to get counters on the way, which is what Verts and Toby were both so great at And that is something our defence needs because a large part of our transition from defence to attack last season was hampered by having CBs who couldn't reliably find teammates, and Dier continues to mystify me because he can chip the ball over the top 30-40 yards and find a teammate but he can't pass it five yards to somebody, and with him ever-present of course our tactics under the ubermensch doomed us more often than not
Im kinda glad tbh, he seems decent enough but I think Spurs should be aiming higher than Joachim Anderson.
Gil's in Japan. Spain play Argentina on Wednesday and a draw would put them through, I believe. They could be out there til the 7th, if they get to the final.
not really a swap deal though is it - more like we can pay £25m for Gil plus if you want we will chuck in Lamela as an added extra .
Yeah I’ll be surprised if Gil does come to London before Spain exit the Olympics. Perhaps we’ll somehow get him to do a medical/ interview out in Japan? El Desmarque have a video of Lamela arriving in a car into the Sevilla stadium so it looks like from their side it’s a lot closer to being done.
I can't see any reason why we couldn't get his medical done out there. Presumably the details have already been sorted out, so the contract shouldn't be an issue.
I mean our medical team having to spend a week in quarantine might be a reason not to And wouldn't it be bloody typical that, when they get out of quarantine, one of Gil or Tomiyasu is headed back to Europe after being knocked out?
A lot of medicals get done by professionals that aren't connected directly to clubs. I'm sure that there are people in Japan that can perform that service. They can take time though, so the club may prefer to wait, as may the Spanish Olympic team.
Castagne and Diallo left last summer, but us loaning in a GK they already have a replacement for is the tipping point apparently...
