......but - not as stupid as some people .................................................................................( like me ! )

I have stopped watching ' WWTBA Millionaire' in recent times - but made the mistake of tuning in last night.

One chap didn't know the answer to the £100 question -- a choice of 4 men called 'Richard' who was a member of The Rolling Stones.... I bet I wasn't the only person shouting the answer at their television - The contestant waffled ( more than I do in this thread ) - before he had to use Clarkson as a 'life line.'.. I swear Clarkson nearly fell off his chair in utter amazement..... I'm sure he contemplated giving the 'wrong' answer - but sadly he didn't.

Things got worse at the next, (£200) question.....To pick out the 'old-fashioned' phrase to go to the loo.... ''Spend a penny.''..... The contestant didn't know the answer. He had to use his 50-50 life line-- which, mercifully left him with a ridiculous choice as well as the correct answer.

The next question -To choose which was a type of neck adornment... Cravat was the answer....The contestant didn't know the answer - but coincidentally knew about the three 'wrong' answers - but he was still reluctant to give the correct choice.

As for the last opportunity to walk away without any cash - the next question was only answered correctly because it related to St.Patrick - and the contestant was born in Ireland....

..... now - you'll notice that I have not used any stereo-typical bigotry against the Irish........ The chap did somewhat redeem himself by going away with £125,000 --- not so stupid after all.........

.......So - there's hope for my sons -- they have immense intelligence - but sadly little common sense.

Every little helps ! - Mr. Scally might do well to take note....... will I get my season ticket card before it expires ?
As stated in another thread - I haven't yet got my Gills season ticket card.... and don't expect it before Saturday - BUT - I thought that Tesco were better organised than Mr. Scally !...

Yesterday ( 1st August ), at 7pm I opened my Tesco app. I had last opened it a few days earlier...... I was expecting to find my latest vouchers available for me....ones that I could spend...
My latest points had not been converted into vouchers ( despite them being taken on 24th July.).. What I did find was a voucher has mysteriously appeared appeared - giving me £7 off a £50 spend - '' Great '' I hear you say -- EXCEPT - the bloody voucher expired on 1st August (2021) !!..... It was not practical to dash out to my local Tesco to use the voucher ( and the shop would probably have been closed at that time on a Sunday. )

I wasn't desperate for the discount, but felt it only right to send Tesco an email - asking if, next time, could they give vouchers that have an expiry date a little more than 24 or 48 hours ahead.................... I was actually quite impressed to receive a contact email - late into Sunday evening - with an apology - AND - they have credited me with 700 points ( same as £7 off ) - which I can use in the next 2 years - AND - gave me a different voucher valued £ 5 off a £50 shop (( but I do have to spend it by next Sunday ))............... I'll give it to Mrs A as she does the shopping next Saturday ((( I might be joining her if I don't get my season ticket card ! )))

    P *** up in a brewery !
Today, I received my season ticket card.... It was shoved through my letter flap - when nobody was home (( despite a signature being required --- at least that wasn't Scally's fault. ))
There was no mention of if, how or when the friends for a £5 'vouchers' would be received and could be used - nor about the 'free' 5 tickets for 2019 / 20.... As previously stated, I have paid for extra tickets for Lincoln - but wish to use my vouchers soonish...So - I phoned the Club - to make a general enquiry on the subject.

The guy, to whom I spoke, asked me to 'hang on a minute.' - presumably to ask because he didn't know the answer.... He then said '' We're waiting to be told how it's going to work! '' --- like I said - he hadn't got a clue... Should I be surprised ?
I asked if there was a possibility of a result by the Morecambe game. He replied ''I hope so.''

I know that I complain about the (lack of) organisation at GFC more than most -- but -- I defy anyone to suggest that I am not justified (again!) -- Mr. Scally has been talking about electronic ticketing for years. The friends for a £5 has been around for years. He's known about the 'free' tickets for months. How can he display yet more examples of incompetence ? - and not even mention it in the covering letter.... It simply isn't good enough........

..... I suppose he's too busy organising a party in The Factory ( using stale beer ), or thinking how to spend his extra 27.5% pay he game himself.

What a load of Bologs........ ( I love Italian 'style' food .)
    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/ar...r-says-time-cancel-British-colonial-term.html

'Political correctness' has gone mad ! ... We've lost an adorable toy figure from the label of Robertsons jam. Nursery rhymes featuring sheep have been edited.....It seems that everything is now a 'politically incorrect' adjective - instead of an inoffensive noun. If we now can't call it curry - I know that we won't be allowed to say 'Asian.' - nor Chinese / Japanese / Thai (Oriental), ... Can we order Frogs legs ? - the 'French' will be hopping mad !

........ And if you think being accused of racism is bad enough - try adding a bit of homophobia - Faggots are definitely off the menu! .... Will the Rainbow lullaby now be accused of 'discrimination' - because it doesn't include all colours ?

We need to be able to call a spade ; 'a spade' ( which is a different implement to a shovel ), without somebody being paranoid.... I have a good friend who is called ''Chalky'' ( I'll let you guess his skin colour.) He loves the endearment - I treat him with the same respect and dignity as people of other skin colour.....( unless they are a 'blind' linesperson -- although the one on Saturday was very observant ! )..... apologies if I have offended anyone who is visually impaired ( am I even allowed to say that ? )

If I have need to (justly) treat a person with disdain - their ethnicity, sex, age, sexuality, physical (dis)ability, religion etc are irrelevant.... Arses, Fannies and Clots come in all different shapes, size and colour.

Unlike my previous post, this one shouldn't run the risk of offending anyone! .... (( unless they may be a grammar freak who has reason to criticise my punctuation ! ))

    It's Ben's fault !
I've discovered the real reason why there has been problems with the ticketing system at GFC..... In an effort to cut costs even further, Mr. Scally has appointed Ben Reeves as 'Ticketing Executive!'.... Maybe he's been too busy with the first team squad.........

...... now all they need to do is to give John Akinde something useful to do -- like answering the Clubs' emails ! (( or does the Beta Max technology at GFC not extend to that )) - well then, - they can 'Fax off.'

gioblues - the 'Free' (5) tickets (( from 2019/20 )), can be used for ANY game... I have an email from the Club to confirm this - and I believe it was also in Mr. Scally's message of 9th June.

Arrogance or Contempt ( or both ! ) - or is it just apathy ?................ I wonder what Mr. Scally thinks ?

I know that, a lot of the time, I use this thread for 'light-hearted' matters - despite being a Gills fan, I am not all 'doom & gloom ! -- I'm not looking for 'hundreds' of replies - but I am a little surprised when little or no response is given - even when I try to be a little controversial !.... Perhaps people are too busy to get involved.. They shouldn't feel 'afraid ' to voice their opinion - I won't hate you for it - in fact, there are a couple of subjects about which my closest friends have the extreme view to myself - but - we still share social times without breaking into a physical fight............

......What shouldn't happen is 'Apathy' ! ...... A well known expression is '' Evil only exists where good people do nothing!''..... This might be a little dramatic - but - it can be scaled down to adapt into all aspects of life...........

.... and in business life, if you let people 'walk all over you' - they generally will !.... and talking about business -- I am not so 'old-fashioned' as to insist that the customer is 'always right!' (( but they're not always wrong ! ))

Recently, I have had to raise a 'grievance' with three businesses - where I have received very poor service or vastly inferior quality of goods.... With two of them, the business in question couldn't apologise enough. ( both admitted to their mistakes - and even pointed to problems /faults which I had not raised! ) They both dealt with the matters extremely promptly. They both offered compensation which amounted to well over double the value of the 'product' subject of my complaint. .. These businesses dealt with me as a 'person' - not as a 'customer.'.. I felt that they expressed themselves in a 'human' manner.

The 3rd business has failed to reply to numerous emails and letters I have sent. They have not even given me acknowledgement of receipt of my communications ( even via a 'no-reply' email !) I have made telephone enquiries of this business - only to encounter 'customer service' personnel who either didn't know the answer to my query, or were unable to connect me to the 'organ-grinder', or forward my details to somebody in charge........

What further action can I take to provoke a response ? Whether my grievance with the business is justified, or not, is irrelevant. The very least professional standard that should be displayed, is one of courtesy. A customer may be 'right.' They may be 'wrong.'.. but they deserve to be 'recognised' and responded to in a 'professional' manner -

A customer shouldn't just receive arrogance, or contempt !. I wonder what Mr. Scally would think if he traded with businesses that treated him so 'unprofessionally ?............ I wonder if you can guess the name of the 'business' that is giving me arrogance and contempt ??

Does it begin with a :emoticon-0127-lipssG.
Again the club is too slow in dealing with things. Never known when the office is open or shut. Believe that tickets for Saturday are still not available from there. They may be tomorrow :emoticon-0138-think.
Yes no comment about the free tickets or £5 ones. Gills shirt could be available in September sometime.

I think @alwaysright is just being downright unreasonable. Haven't you heard of less is more? Less communication is more satisfaction for the fans and customers. Take that mantra and you'll be much happier <cheers>

Well, working with that principle, I feel that I should be deliriously happy after the game tonight ( last night ! .....just got home. ) -- and I was loopy in the 97th minute...... but that's two league goals that we've scored - and I haven't seen either one where the ball hit the back of the net.... tonight's goal(bound) shot was obscured by the Gills fans in front of me jumping up for joy - before the ball entered the goal........ so - I'm definitely getting more out of even less than before.

ah someone is messing about, it's an old video...

Hang on, that looks like tonights game, it finished 1-0...but....

    GOAL!

Gives head shake, taps brain, wake up in there...

    GOAL!

Pinches oneself, am i awake or am I dreaming...

    GOAL!

Oh my lord, not to hold gods name in vain....but it's a GOAL! We've only gone and scored!

brb- you say we scored - but - against Lincoln, did the ball cross the line - only the linesman will know.... and last night -- 'we' DIDN'T score !... I was in more danger of Lintott's shot than was their keeper.................. and that would have been the 2nd time last night when I got hit by a Gills player shooting at goal !.... I did have the satisfaction of throwing the ball back - so as to hit the back of a steward's head (( of course it wasn't deliberate (crosses fingers ). ))
