Thank you all so much for your kind words, thoughts, prayers and donations. You’re a great bunch. She’s no longer in pain. I am lucky to have two fantastic sons who are pillars of strength, supporting me. My avatar is one of the last photos I took of my wife, in Spain with her much loved cafe con leche, before the cancer diagnosis was made, so is very special to me. One story that has raised a chuckle, and my wife would have loved, was me incorrectly completing a form for the crematorium in which I named myself as the person to be cremated. Awkward. Take care everyone and thanks again.
When me and my brother went to scatter my dad’s ashes on the beach at Southsea, watched by twenty or so friends and relatives, I emptied the urn a bit too forcefully, and instead of being taken by the wind, it all just fell out as a big ashy lump onto the sand. In a bit of an awkward panic a few of us then started picking handfuls up to scatter again. Pretty soon into this debacle the whole load of us just started cracking up. It was a real mess. I’m guessing my dad and your wife had a similar sense of fun, because he would have enjoyed that day on the beach watching us all struggle more than anyone.
Thank you all again for the kind words and donations. In just 7 days, with your help, donations and gift aid have brought the total up to £1011.67. More than I anticipated. I have also donated my wife’s clothes to the Mountbatten Charity shop in West End, so hopefully a few more hundreds to help a very worthy cause. Thanks again.
