I see Arsenal have cancelled pre seasom tour due to positive tests. Massive hinderance to them I should think.

I just went to train a team but as I arrived got a call to say several of them just been told to self isolate so we canned the session.

I am hoping the season, at all levels, can be more normal but you have to wonder at this stage.

I've been getting emails from the bairns' school about year groups isolating and positive cases for a good few weeks now. It's all over the place, feels like we are back in last April tbh. Just hope the hospital's can cope with it all.

Edit: his footy team have barely had a training session due to the other lads needing to isolate. (under 10s)

With cases on the rise, I can't help but think that restrictions will be reintroduced at some point. That would cause yet another disrupted season. I think if there's enough will, disruption caused by outbreaks within squads could be accomodated, allowing the season to limp on as much as possible. Within the professional game, at least. Fixture rescheduling would, obviously, be more difficult to get round at semi-pro level and I'm hoping to see a full season of that in what feels like forever.

I honestly think there would be riots it BoJo tried another lockdown with all the **** he has lied about. Nobody would listen to a ****ing word he says.

If you believe Cummings, Boris never wanted a lockdown in the first place. I think there are enough people concerned about it for further restrictions to be widely accepted.

There are more people concerned yes but the profile of people who would be pissed of are more likely to mobilise and kick off and cause major issues imo.
A load of under 25s will cause a load more disruption than treble the amount of over 70s would do.

Yeah, there might be trouble from some people. They'll be dismissed as idiots and will just end up getting themselves into unnecessary trouble. I don't see massive civil disobedience though, its just not worth it for a few more months of social distancing and table service in pubs.

I am worried about grass roots and semi pro too. I am trying to get a pre season into 2 teams at the minute and it is proving very difficult. No way will either team be where they should for game 1. Loads of teams in the same boat though.

I am really frustrated because you plan your sessions based on squad numbers and we plan for several weeks at a time. Then disruption of having players missing is massive because you cant do the work you want to without a full squad, or a couple of players key to your session. We were working on playing against a high press in a couple of sessions last week but the second session 2 defenders missing so you have to rip the session up then and there. I dont think it is much different in pro clubs either. Johnson probably wants to plenty of work with Pritchard as playmaker but cant and 2 weeks is a long time in pre-season. Training is the most important thing in football, the match is the end result. If you cant get the training in the match wont be what anyone wants. Dont think I have said this before but I feel sorry for Arsenal right now as I dont think it is too much of an exageration to say their entire season looks tougher now.

There will be hundreds of thousands (probably in the millions) marching in the capital if he lock's down again. It will be chaos, he hasn't got the balls to do it.

I can see how that would be terribly disruptive and, like you say, could have a serious knock on effect for the forthcoming season. I've not heard of Covid disruption to pre-season for any of the semi-pro clubs in my neck of the woods (but that doesn't mean it hasn't happened of course) which I find quite surprising when its obviously impacted some of the (fairly) nearby pro clubs. It must be bad where you are if its causing more disruption than the usual injuries and people not being available at this time of year.

A long way off what? Making an impact or being an accurate number to march/protest in London? If he lock's us down again, there will be hell on imo.

Can see a lot of fixtures being interrupted throughout the season like, gonna be a nightmare. The need for a big squad gonna be more prevalent than ever.

The good thing is that the pro lockdowners aren’t able to protest without being seen as massive hypocrites. Great to see.
