Off Topic PL player arrested

So a PL player has been arrested on alleged child sex offences.

Rumours are that it is an Everton player.

The person arrested is 31.

Two possibilities looking at their squad.

Wonder if @Rafman has any inside knowledge on this. Benitez will be pleased - now somebody more hated than him at the club.

 

Apparently it could be Sigurdsson, he didn't play in their last match and hasn't been training.

 

The rumours have been all over the internet for the last 12 hours that it had happened and who the player was.

Need to remember it's just allegations though at this stage. The club have done the right thing and suspended the person as soon as the allegations came to light. However, we need to let the investigation process play out before jumping to conclusions. Leigh Griffiths went through the same last month and turned out he was innocent.

Rumours in Norway yesterday were banging around Sigurdssons name even before the story broke.

Everton have released a statement

Doesnt seem the type but, its deffo he was messaging some 15 year old who passed for older.

Message to footballers, do what the online celebs do. Name and age written down a long with a consent form and a NDA.

Jake Paul has a camera system linked to his doorbell so girls confirm their age before entering.

The 31-year-old man, who has not been named for legal reasons, was detained on Friday by Greater Manchester Police.

Like you say it doesn't take a rocket scientist to work it out does it.

Serious offence if true and absolutely stupid also given who he is (GS) and that he could probably have the pick of most women.

He's been named here and it is him. Apparently he has been arrested for texting sexual features to underage girls. Although that might have lost a bit in the translation.

Does anyone else think it's annoying that someone's life/career/reputation is ruined before any evidence has been displayed at all?

There should be no mention of this at all in the news IMO.

Either a child has been abused and their life could be ruined, or a person has been falsely accused and their life has been ruined before any proof has been displayed.

If you're not guilty it must feel awful to have your name displayed everywhere and everyone think you're a pedo.

 

May I ask why the player should be suspended? We are assuming innocence surely, not guilt?
